  1. Guess the heat is out… wool cap, poncho…. Snicker… of course it’s 40 here in central Florida.

  2. I get the idea that you can't develop all these extra picks, but the best team in the league did exactly that. Shouldn't we just give ourselves as many chances to hit as possible? The busts will reveal themselves and you simply don't resign them.
Just like what happened with Collier and Keyonte. All of a sudden we don't think Keyonte is our PG prospect anymore. If we sign a bigger more efficient scorer then we stop wasting time developing Keyonte at all.

  3. When I heard the trade yesterday, my first thought was Ainge won the trade. Quality over quantity. Consolidation. A high lottery pick is more useful than three diluted picks. The pick is also so far out that, even if Jazz doesn't plan on drafting with it, the pick (as currency) could be used in other deals before that draft.

  4. Why is the assumption being made that you “have” to make these so-called bad 1st rd picks (not just by Locke)? Future picks are assets. You can trade them for players. You can trade up or down in drafts. You can trade for future firsts down the road. Etc…
This trade was simply ok. Utah may have received the best “speculative” asset on paper, but this is still a 3 for 1 trade, where they clearly bailed the suns out – this was an enormous favor. I sincerely hope that there is a wink wink component to this deal whereby the suns return the favor down the road 🤷🏻‍♂️

  5. Okay. So the “narrative” has been that the Jazz are trading away all their journeyman talent for picks – including handfuls of second round picks so they can play the lotto on striking gold in the draft. We are also being told that the way to do the best in the draft is to tank. Tank tank tank. Don’t win any games and hope for that magic ticket.

Now, they are trading away first round picks from this year, two and four years from now for a pick SIX years away. The kid they are going to get with that pick is in middle school right now. The team they are getting the pick from we are hoping will tank five years from now?

As far as “the Jazz now have too many young players so we don’t need anymore” is the OPPOSITE of “let’s get rid of all our journeymen for those lottery ticket draft picks and hope we scratch off three 7s.” Those of us who have been saying “what do we need with all these picks for?” And getting derided that we just aren’t as big brained as Danny Ainge (who lucked into players that made a team great after he left).

By your own analysis a draft pick is a 50/50 bet for an NBA rotation player. And we are pretending that a single pick six years from now matters.

The Jazz have “won” every trade in the 2.5 years I’ve been watching this podcast and the team is getting worse and worse. I don’t care what they are doing in 2050. I would like them to play basketball in 2025.

  6. Only way it makes sense for the Jazz now, is to trade that "2031" 1st rd pick to OKC(pay the debt) or in another trade package(assets and other picks for Reed Sheppard, boy has it).

Jokic was a 2nd rd pick. It took 8 yrs for him to develop and get a Championship.
Ben Wallace went undrafted, played in Euro, then found his way to the NBA and it took 8 yrs to Win a Championship.

Its all a gamble, nobody knows what the end result will be.

This is why trading for up for a high draft pick makes sense, its an absolute. Walker Kessler wasn't drafted(22nd pick), he was traded for….
    I hate rebuilds!
