Look. He’s overrated. He’s soft. He’s been overrated. We needed a big THE MINUTE we drafted him. Screw the Blazers for snatching Clingan and making him a third string. Edet can’t defend. Can’t move his feet. He gets killed by all NBA bigs he matches up with. We play the Knicks on Monday and there is NO WAY you can play him too many minutes Vs KAT. If Steven Adams (who we should trade back for btw) couldn’t guard KAT a few years ago in that WOLVES/Grizz playoff series then KAT IS GONNA GO FOR 50
He is developing and they are keeping him healthy for the playoffs.
Wow this video is hilarious. Zach Edey is struggling a lil but he is a ROOKIE!!!!! Edey is a rookie and he is going through a rough patch and some people in this thread are acting like they want to just give up on Edey. UNBELIEVABLE as I said he is a rookie. What's Memphis record? They are one of the top teams in the West and you guys act like Edey is hurting the team. Why don't you let Edey learn and develop. I know one thing Zach Edey has alot more heart than Zion Williamson.
We need an offensive package for Edey for when things slow down in the half court throughout the game. If not he'll just be doing cardio in this offense Jenkins smh
I wanted ware badly, he fit our offense better. At first people point to him not playing to say he can’t play, but now he’s putting up numbers. Look, Zach was a good player but he was always going to struggle in our pace system. Force feeding Zach in the paint clogs the paint for a paint dominant team. In the spurs game, coach took Edey out for a more mobile big to open the floor and get Wemby away from the goal because he was blocking everything. Edey hurts the team, the moment we accept that is the moment we can go get a starting big.
😅 Yeah I thought we drafted him to hold down the post offensively and defensively.
Zach Edey is a nice "big" problem for our Grizzlies…..he is fitting into the scheme of things just fine in my opinion…he can battle Steven Adams, Nikolac Jokic, Victor Wenbenyama and other big men in the league….he is barely out of college and learning his way in this league….pump the brakes and enjoy the ride, its going to be BIG!

Does anyone remember how much better on offense jjj is from his rookie year? It takes time he has the will power to get it done. That being said the offense we’ve adapted this year would be hard for most big men.

What’s considered cardio for Edey, Mark Williams would put up 40 in that same role . Worst fit on the roster
Problem is SPJ, he does not have chemistry with Edey. His starts are strong, it is only when Ja is not on the floor where he struggles offensively
If Mark Williams is only a few months older than Edey, it’s a bust. No way he learns the art of lob catching.. that takes an entire childhood of coordination
Edey might be the worst lob threat of all time. One of the most uncoordinated athletes in sports

I think a lot depends on your expectations of Edey. People seem to forget that if didn't draft him when we did, he probably would not have been drafted in the 1st round. Personally I like like Edey myself. I think that the people who are complaining about Edey are not being realistic and they are not being very patient. Not to mention he isn't being used correctly. He will be valuable in the playoffs.
They need to run drills in practice with ppl reaching on Edey. He has really bad hands and since he always gets ripped, he then rushes and misses easy layups.
Problem is also that they don’t feed hi, during mismatches. Then when we do, he loses the ball🤦🏾♂️
I surely hope that we DO NOT trade Luke Kennard. But I'm okay with a Laravia, Smart or a Konchar trade.
Defense is my concern. Smaller guys out quick him, big guys push him around.

Grizzlies got all these trade exceptions that are expiring this year. They should go and try to acquire a starting center to take the pressure off Edey as a starter, especially since they rarely look for him in the post.
I think the biggest issue is that Memphis is trying to run 3 bigs with basically equal minutes…find your guy and let them play through their mistakes
