Ben Simmons Opens Up About His Battle Returning From Injuries and the Philadelphia 76ers

This week on ‘The Young Man and the Three’ we welcome Ben Simmons of the Brooklyn Nets, hosted by his teammate Cam Johnson. The episode begins with Tommy and Jason talking to Trey Murphy III of the New Orleans Pelicans about the Pelicans’ hot streak, the play of CJ McCollum, and things that have caught their eye around the league recently (Hint: it’s Cade Cunningham and CP3). Then Cam and Ben discuss Ben’s return from injuries and surgeries and the battles that rehab requires, including Ben questioning if he wanted to continue playing basketball. Then, Ben talks about his mindset when it comes to people talking sh*t to him. He also reflects about his time with the Philadelphia 76ers and what he appreciated about playing in Philly. Ben also opens up out his upbringing in Australia and his fishing hobby. Cam and Ben then share why they enjoy playing with ‘sickos’ like JJ Redick and Jimmy Butler. Toward the end of their conversation, they discuss some of their favorite playmakers in the NBA like Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Trae Young, and more. We close out the episode with Trey, Tommy, and Jason drafting NBA players past and present that they’d least want to get stuck in an elevator with. Let’s go!

  1. I’ll be impressed if you actually push back on Simmons and his delusional victim narrative

  2. absolutely NOTHING will change our perspective of Simmons and what a flop he’ll be remembered by.

  3. Enjoy your last season getting paid $40 million for being a bum. Unless you want the veteran minimum in the NBA, get ready to go back down under or brush up on your Chinese

  4. It disgusts me how mad Men get when a player doesn't do what they VOLUNTARILY threw money down, bc they wanted the thrill of the win 😅 it's all gambling is: a waste of money

  5. The most disrespectful player in the history of the NBA. Takes the game for granted in the most vile way possible.

  6. The internet is warping peoples minds into thinking they actually accomplished things in life. If yall had the work ethic and mental toughness that you guys portrait yourselves to have through the way you comment, I swear you wouldn't be working entry-level jobs or still live with your parents.

  7. This interview was enlightening. You can definitely see why Ben Simmons crumbles under pressure and has a hard time with rehabbing injuries. He doesn’t have the mental toughness or accountability that most pro athletes have. He was blessed with pro athlete athleticism and size but not the mental.

  8. is it worth the listen? ive been done with this dude for two years hoping he'd get better. think a lot of todays nba stars are just out of touch, the recent jimmy butler situation really doesnt help these guys images

  9. I sense a lot of calm and confidence in Benjamin. I hope he is in the state he has fought so hard to achieve these past few years.

  10. I wish ppl could see that this podcast is about humanizing the players, and before yall watch a minute yall are in the comments antagonizing Ben

  11. Balenciaga Ben hoping he can show just enough so another franchise may consider giving him another max deal lol

He doesn't love basketball; you can see it. He loves the lifestyle that basketball has afforded him but he doesn't actually love the sport and he's not tough enough to actually grind and get better at the game

He's the poster child for why people think modern NBA players are soft

  12. Its weird… old/young man and the three is predominately an inside look into players to help people understand the game and what its like. The amount of hate in these comments is weird.
