Paul George has been a disaster for the Sixers this season. The entire year has been a disaster quite frankly, but George has been the worst – the 7th highest paid player in the entire league having his worst season in over a decade and generally just looking… washed.

From Ben Simmons to Paul George to Joel Embiid to Tobias Harris. The Sixers make the dumbest moves out of all the NBA franchises
If I were to be in the 76ers front office, I would be saying it is time to trade Joel Embiid. It doesn't mean you have to trade everyone and go full rebuild. Get something for Embiid while you still can, before he is useless to anyone else and get flexibility, get depth and build up something with Maxey at the lead.
I don't know if the Pelicans would do it or not…but Zion Williamson + a 1st and salary filler for Embiid could be the exact way for the Pelicans to reset the roster and get the Zion Williamson era to end for them. Plus, maybe being in Philadelphia gives Zion the motivation to finally keep himself in shape. It is no secret that Zion Williamson never wanted to be drafted by the Pelicans. If I remember correctly, I think he was hoping for Charlotte or Brooklyn at the time.
It isn't to say that he hasn't overall embraced being in New Orleans. I am saying that maybe, moving him and even though Embiid has health concerns as well, Embiid is still a big who can do things Zion can't and has been healthier than Zion to this point.
I don't know if it is possible for that scenario to work or not. I don't have the trade machine pulled up to check it. This is just spitballing ideas. (No, Pelicans fans, not saying they need to give up a high value first to get Embiid. Just a first. Something that is top 8-10 protected).
I don't know if either team or fanbase would want that. I know Pelicans fans are probably tired of dealing with Zion though.
You could have a high value first round pick (I think they have their own this summer if I remember correctly), Ingram, Embiid, McCollum, Murray and some other young players on the team. Depending on who they get in the draft would depend on what else they can do. If they won the lottery and got Cooper Flagg, this makes CJ expendable. Now you can trade him for more depth and get someone else to be the backup PG. (Maybe Davion Mitchell who has an expiring contract and will be a Free Agent).
You turn CJ into a couple of depth guys, it could be a very deep and talented team next season.
For Philadelphia, it gives them a different look, I think they have their first, and they probably don't need to win the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes, but I think there are a couple of good big men in the draft, they would see if Zion could stay healthy, be able to get a big who can stay healthy and is younger.
Maxey, McCann, Williamson, pick and someone who can make Paul George a 6th man/part time starter to recover some of his value and maybe he is healthier and can be moved next season. If nothing else, it at least changes the mix a little and let's Maxey know going forward, this is his team.
It also depends on who else Philadelphia gets from New Orleans. As I am not sure of everyone else on the roster right now.
Maybe I am wrong. I don't know. Maybe Philly wants to keep Joel until his legs fall off. Maybe New Orleans never wants to let Zion go. Maybe both teams would want way, way too much for either player.
Anybody excited for Podcast P did not watch him actually play last year with the Clips, and more significantly over the last 5 years. He has been on a clear decline, acting more and more like a diva, going further and further away from the way he was playing in Indiana, where he worked hard on D and played with the flow of the offense…
I'm surprised most general managers are still struggling to understand that overpaying a fake star is the worst mistake you can make in the NBA… You're better off passing on the opportunity to sign the PG, Bradley Beals of the world.

Paul is the classic older players cashing in on the past to get paid and then teams/fans realize their skills are declining but getting paid like young stars! Plus, it seems George likes being more an podcaster more than a basketball player!
Teams keep recycling guys like George and Butler for huge contracts who have never won a ring.
PG is a product of his environment. When he has hard working guys like Russ around him, he's played some of his best basketball. But then qith Kawhi he was somewhat inconsistent, and Embiid he's just terrible. Sometimes the guys around you, effect your game more than you realize

Shame, this isn't George's fault. It wasn't too bright to pay him that high when the guy is what….34? Why would someone that age get a contract for 3+ years? Just cuz there's a couple players over 35 still playing elite doesn't mean it's normal. It's completely out of the range of normal for a player to still be good once they get to that age. Just speaks volumes to how poorly that team is run.

I blame Daryl Morey and the Owners. They want to hijack Philly for a new stadium, but give us bad product. Harden, Horford, Jimmy Butler, PG Tucker, they tried everything. Team is ass. Low frequency response, no one really cares.
