How many OKC games has he even watched? No one drives to the basket like SGA. No one makes defenders look silly like he does.

Cleveland and OKC are fun. Young teams that play intense are fun. They may win 70 games but the NBA doesn't care about the regular season. They will not be considered the best team for 2024-25. Let's make it about best of 7, plodding half court basketball. But let's force players to jump through administrative hoops to not play every night and create a stupid in-season tournament in addition to the end of the season tournament.

Dan said he watched the game and then proceeded to do a segment which had me convinced he in fact did not watch that game. SGA dominated that game on both sides of the ball, which included a number of highlights.
That was 8 minutes of the stupidest NBA talk I’ve listened to in a while and I listen to the Bill Simmons podcast, so you know that’s a high bar of stupid to achieve.

His nicknames are SAGA(middle name is Acian), or The Timeline. People were saying SGA should be traded since he would be old when the picks conveyed. But most Thunder fans said that he was the timeline. SAGA came along later from someone who saw his middle name and said, “Why the fuck are we not using his initials as his nickname?!? SAGA is too easy!”
Also… ya’ll have not watched Shai and it is blatantly obvious. Don’t say “your two favorite teams were playing.” Shiiiiit, Cavs fans probably think you’ve never watched one of their games.

If Joker's teammates play well, they win…period. Heck, if MPJ or Murray just hit a majority of their shots, they win pretty much regardless of how the rest of the team plays. You can't say that about anyone else in the league. If you watch Nuggets games, most of the time most of the team plays like crap for the first half and then they start making shots and plays after halftime all the while Jokic is playing far and away better than anyone in the league from start to finish, night in and night out.
Did Dan somehow forget about the KD, Westbrook, Harden era OKC Thunder? They were easily one of the most watchable and marquee teams in the NBA. OKC was already on the map because of those guys. The small market angle is just lazy. SGA is no less than a star, and on a trajectory toward superstardom.
It’s segments like this that contribute to the decline of the NBA’s popularity at least in the U.S. You have a guy like Dan Patrick, who allegedly is a big-time NBA fan, but all he normally talks about is LeBron James and Michael Jordan. So when a guy like SGA emerges to an MVP level of play, Dan’s way of handling this, is comparing him to DeMar DeRozan, saying he needs a nickname and surmising that networks would rather have the Lakers on then OKC? Cmon Dan!
The rest of the west is closer to being OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS than to OKC. Give Shai some respect, he's greatness right in front of you but you have to wait until it's undeniable to say it. Say it now, it's more impressive.

Then have an engaging conversation where the expert can spit facts and a little humor and Dan can do what he does best, come in with his experience, stories and layer on some of the Dan humor.
