Russell Westbrook DESERVES Respect 💯

Russell Westbrook DESERVES Respect 💯

Rashad McCants and Gilbert Arenas are adamant about giving Russell Westbrook his praise. He was reaching triple-double averages during his time with the OKC Thunder. He is one of the best point guards of all time and gets hated by the general NBA fan base. A great inside-the-NBA take from the Gil’s Arena podcast crew. Russell Westbrook is having a great year with the Denver Nuggets and it is bringing up the need to praise him for his past successes. A triple-double average is better than any other point guard in NBA history.

Gil’s Arena every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

  1. Last time I checked they did give him credit for his triple doubles… 😂 Y'all reaching, the only thing he gets criticized for is turning the ball over at the most inconvenient time in games

  2. WESTBROOK IS BAR NONE ONE OF THE BEST MOTHER FUCKING POINT GAURD TO EVER, YES EVERRR PLAY IN NBA. WHO DOESNT AGREE OR TALKS SHIT ABOUT RUSS. WELL FUCK U AND UR NEGATIVE COMMENTS MEAN AS MUCH TO ME AS MY NEXT SHIT

  3. I hate this world where u cant call out shit when it's bad then congratulate it when it turns around from bad to good cause then youre called a hater 😂. RUSS in LA played like Dog shit. Dude couldnt shoot the ball into the ocean, shot the ball at the WORST of times and for history sakes may of been the WORST 3rd piece of a BIG 3 with 3 TOP 75 players of all time. But with that being said since his last season with clippers he has been ballin and actually playin like russ of old

  4. It's overlooked for two reasons… first those okc teams had him and that's it. And second, it's a known fact now that his teammates helped him pad his stats. He's still a great player. But he was one of those guys that his style of play didn't exactly amount winning.

  5. I agree with what they’re saying for the most part. But I think part of the reason that we overlooked it was because historically, nobody ever cared how much a PG could rebound. It just doesn’t affect the game much. A big that can pass is much more impressive and is also a game changer. That’s why Jokic is getting all of the love that Westbrook didn’t. No team drafting a PG ever looked at how well he rebounds as a factor. It’s messed up but it’s facts. It’s kind of an empty stat for that position.

  6. lot of players could do it its just not what theyre asked to do.
Kobe, Giannis, KD, Lebron, Shaq, Wilt, lot of generational talent could do it these guys never averaged it but could of did it even pau gasol might of been able to do it if they played through him it might not amount to winning but they could if they focused on those stats really it comes down to shot makers. rebounding and scoring is your own talent creating open space is talent too but that depends on the shot maker.

  7. Its simple really….he Folds in the playoffs. The flash of Russell regular season achievements started to fade quickly because his playoff performance was trash. Anyone trying to pretend like they do know the reason and call you a hater are sitting at the highest level disingenuous -ness.

  8. Russ doesn't get the props his stats would warrant because it ends up in style of ball that flames out in the playoffs. HIs all out play results in statistical magic, but it also results in 4th quarter 3 pointers that don't even hit the rim. You can't separate one from the other. Now, could OKC have made a better team around him instead of just star shopping? Maybe. Could coaches have risked their career by developing other guys and hoping it would result in Russ having legs come the 4th quarter? Sure.

But his career is what it is. Once KD left, there is a lot of .600 ball from that team. I love his resurgence in Denver and hopefully they will continue to protect him from his worst instincts, if it ends in a ring for Russ, I think that would be great.

  9. What are yall talking about he won a MVP athletes be in their feelings man 😂 he was great won a MVP sucked with the lakers the league has transitioned to 3 point shooting and he wasn’t good at that and turned the ball over way too much. He’s not a MVP anymore how is that disrespectful 🤦🏾‍♂️?

  10. I been a fan of russ since okc. Him kd and harden (for the life of me i have no idea why james was a 6th man to sefelosa) were my guys back in the day. Fell off kd and james but still got luv for Russ

  11. Russ has the best motor I have ever seen in my lifetime- but his IQ was the absolute worst with Harden and Durant. He didn’t understand he was the third best on that team…. And as a lifelong warriors fan- his need to be the hero during that stretch is what put us on the path of our legacy.

  12. why tf would he get respect when you don’t even respect a 4 time champ, 4 time fmvp and 4 time regular season mvp. Rashad you’re a weirdo
