The team is showing some quality and most importantly the dog mentality. It doesn’t really matter how depleted your opponents are, a win is a win. They’re getting better and we have to give the head coach some credit for this turnaround.
for bruce brown to sign with toronto rather than a contender when he ufa, he probably charge the raptors 25 million a year for 4 years. or else he signs for cheaper with a contender. there are two prices, one for toronto, and one for a contender.
@benrogers btw any chance of a butler trade went down the tubes, with beal indicating he wont waive his ntc for bulls. masai better get of his ass and start trading his vets cuz 2nd round picks is all he is gonna get, so dragging this out with needless wins is just gonna have rogers not give masai a new contract when he becomes majority owner.
looking at now three mishandling of assets if he screws up this trade deadline, and three strikes you are out.
this may qeue the way for an IQ trade. davion is better defensively than IQ and he doesnt take shots away from players. it may be the move to ship IQ to spurs. even the offence is better without IQ as he takes shots from other players.
You guys in the comments have such bad takes it's amazing. Masai is not trying to tank, the Raptors are a decent young squad and had an extremely rough start to the season. Masai isn't going to trade everyone to tank for a chance at Flagg, if he was he would have been trading players already and we would be hearing more Poeltl trade talk. These aren't needless wins if they are trying to make a play in spot which is probably what Masai is aiming for and if they fail it's not the end of the world because we have a young team that are still developing and Raptors are in the lottery.
The Raptors have no assets to trade, BB is a 23mil bench player, he is worth nothing unless some team needs him to make salaries work for a trade like Jimmy Butler. Kelly O and Chris Boucher are the only players with any trade value that the Raptors might move but even then they are bench players who would maybe get us 2nds at most, maybe a late 1st? Poeltl is our only player with trade value and he's an important piece of this team moving forward so I doubt Masai moves him, if it was his plan I'm sure we would have heard rumblings by now. I doubt Masai wants to dump CB and KO for 2nds when were pushing for a play in spot now that the team is healthy besides IQ.
The team isn't trading IQ. They didn't sign him in the offseason to a long term deal just to bail on him after one half of an injury riddled season. Davion mitchell can't shoot the ball, he's a decent energy/defense guy but he's not a starting caliber PG like IQ is when healthy. IQ is the future PG of the Raptors whether you like it or not. Also IQ was a great defender in NY so not sure why all the bad takes are out there lately that he's bad on defense. This whole Raptors team is bad on defense which signals a much larger problem than blaming specific players.
The Raptors already have 5 guards signed through the next 3 seasons and that's if they let BB and Mitchell walk in FA. If they re sign Mitchell since he's an RFA then we have 6 guards already. There's no room on this team for BB so they won't be re signing him in the off season. If they don't find someone to dump him for a 2nd before the deadline then he will walk for nothing and we already have a bunch of young guys trying to crack the roster so more 2nds doesn't help us anyways. Raptors need high end talent not more 2nd round energy guys.
It's great that Mitchell and BB have been playing great lately but stop being over reacting dummies. Wait for IQ to get healthy, watch the Raptors games and enjoy them scrapping for a play in spot. Wish the team luck in the lottery.
Every year we fuck our future up buying into wins against bad/average teams in the dregs of the season. So tired of this lack of foresight

Everybody's focusing on a 1 in 7 chance of lucking into Cooper Flagg. Even if you finish bottom 3, that's all you get. While Flagg would be a great addition, if we don't get him it's not the end of the world. This team is still set-up for success. We already have a future ALL-NBA player in Scottie, two potential all-stars in Barrett and Quickley, some great young talent in Walter, Shead, Dick, Mogbo etc. Add another lottery pick this year and we are in a great position. I'd definitely be keeping Poetl, because he fits Darko system so well. I might even keep Boucher if all I'm getting is a late 2nd rounder. Get what you can for Brown and maybe Olynyk and let this team develop. Nothing is better for a young group than learning how to win.
Jimmy Butler is holding up raptors trades. Team are hesitant to make take trades until they know where Butler is going.

We know what going on winning streaks late in a season can do. We were like 7th in the wemby draft and ended up picking 13. Which worked out because gradey dropped, and the magic are idiots and drafted a Gleague bum in Jett Howard over the best shooter in the draft (gradey)

It DOES NOT make sense for this team to tank, that is the illusion that simple minded dumb humans believe is the path to success – what makes sense is allowing all to "JUST BE" their organic flow BECAUSE existence isn't linear like humans believe it to be! This team is growing ,improving, rounding into a winners mentality, "sense" is allowing for this natural progression to happen without attachment to the illusion in your heads of what is the path to "winning"! If the team were to purposely play bad, without heart or desire to improve just to get Flagg, they would take a step backward in expanding skills, maturing into the game, learning how to win at the cost of a "maybe" 1st over all pick – it is dumb!
Careful what you wish for, a 1st over all doesn't mean winning is going to happen, ask the Hawks, the Pelicans, the Wolves, the Magic, the Pistons, the Suns, The 76'ers twice (7 of the past 8, 1st over all picks in the NBA) OR, the Carolina Panthers come to mind with their recent QB, or the Maple Loserrs (7 years of 1st round exits after drafting Matthews – except for once when they beat a tired Stanley Cup final 3-peat team in 7 games, then could barely win a game in the 2nd round), 1st over-all's aren't always what you want them to be or guarantee winning is going to happen! Beside I think the Lithy PG is the play for the Raps this draft, which can be had right now between 3-7 spot.
Mitchel is worth re-signing. What will he get 10-13 (Boucher money, and worth GTJ money @ around 18), the NBA's successful teams ill play a 3 point guard rotation for the most part, its vital to have three game managers available in today's game. Mitchell is maturing into the game, learning how and when, improving his shooting. His value vs. price (if below 18 mill) is a great back-up PG to play with Shead and IQ. I mean, Sacramento surely misses him now!
