If it were up to me, the long game is still the way to go. If PATFO is developing Castle as the future PG, there is no sense in this trade. I would rather wait for Ant, Cade, or Zion.
You are talking about his 3 point percentage. The man average 25 points a game the last 4 years and won clutch player of the last year. You got to watch other nba games beside the spurs and stop reading stats. Made 3rd team all nba last year. And if he gets traded to S.A I'm pretty sure the spurs got wemby approval
I don't think we want to give up a bunch of picks for Fox. I'd way rather we keep developing Castle (with game experience and with a focus on 3P shooting). Let's pretend that Fox and his camp really do want to come to SA, I still don't think we trade for him, because Sacramento will want first round picks. I think a lot of the optionality we want to take advantage of (assuming the ping pong balls dont go our way in the lottery) is Free Agency this coming off season with guys like Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle, John Collins, Naz Reid and Dorian Finney Smith (notice all these guys are in that SF/PF hybrid or PF/C hybrid role). Let everyone else chase the LeBrons and Kyries (those perennial All Star caliber guys). I want the Spurs to go after the guys that are just a solid 19 pts, 5 rebs, 4 assists per game type of guys on 36% shooting from 3 (like Ingram) on a slightly team friendly deal. There are years that are better to make moves in FA, because of the number of guys that play the same position, and I think this might be one of them.
Firstly and most importantly, feel better soon brother Rich. I'm with you being on the fence about this. The positives: Fox instantly gives the Spurs a legit second threat and the only one on the roster who can create his own shot. He has a little playoff experience, albiet not any success, but that's still more than the majority of the Spurs players and he's hungry to win.
The negatives: Fox is a poor 3 point shooter. Some people do not think that is a big deal, however, for someone that will have open looks alot playing with Wemby and a team that is already poor from beyond the arc, that is a worthwhile concern. After the departure of Chip Engellend, my faith in the Spurs ability to fundamentally improve the shooting of their players is currently non existent. I'm also not overly impressed with his ability to pass the ball. He's got a very talented team around him in Sacramento and averaging just about 6 assist per game is not overwhelming for a point guard. Another possible negative is not on Fox himself but rather a concern about Castle. Where does that leave the #4 pick? He's struggled at times sure, especially shooting, yet never seems fazed. He has that intangible winner's mindset about him and making him take a backseat or even moving on from him now is a big mistake in my book. Also, in Castle's defense as a rookie, his current head coach has yet to prove to anyone he deserves to be the head coach. Poor leadership will stunt the growth of even the most talented people.
Another potential negative that is more of a question is why are we hearing Fox's name in trade talks again now? He was directly linked to Coach Mike Brown's firing. In fairness to Fox, that was/is still just speculation and without the presence of facts, we don't know what and or who caused Coach Brown to be fired. The Kings have played well since Coach Doug Christie took over and the question again must be asked why would Sacramento be open to dealing their best player now? The Spurs must be certain that he is a high character individual if they are going to give up a vast sum of assets to acquire. This is especially true if he is going to want the max contract after the 2026 season.
On a semi-side note. If the Spurs do pull the trigger on this trade what does it say about the front office? On one hand, it may appear to some that the direction they had been going, building through he draft, has been a failure and they felt the need to push a panic button. The other side of this coin is perhaps management had multiple avenues open for the team where one was to capitalize on a young star being made available. It is not often that an up and coming potential mega star like Wemby, is paired early on with a great player. Wemby has stated in a recent interview that he trusts the process and the people in the organization. If nothing else, acquiring Fox would at least show Wemby they are serious about putting quality players around him in order to compete.
Hell no. Get Monk instead of we wanna go big get Sabonis. If he really wants 2 b Spur then sign here in 2 years when a free agent. Prove it muthafucker! Other than LaMarcus no big name in their prime has ever signed in SA unless they R washed up. So not buying it. DeAron should stay in Sacramento.
Try going over what you're reading before you record your video, that may help you to stop messing up, and just relax man, you're doing an awesome job!!! Spurs4Life Baby!!! 💪😎🤟💕💯
What I want to happen.. the Spurs do what they always do and stay pact. Then trade the farm before the draft to land the No.1 pick unless they end up getting it in the lottery naturally
I still think we shouldn’t make a major move this deadline. We got so many young guys & I don’t think we need to rush a move. I’d rather wait until next season when the timing is right, unless we can get a guy for super cheap or course
All Pg like to be a spurs now haha fox we developing castle why need trade for him.I like get Zion his trade value low maybe give 1st round pick and salary like Collins do that
No smart Spurs fan wants us to trade for Fox if it means giving Devin/Castle/3-5 first round picks, which is his current price. Fox wants to play for the Spurs, you know what that means? He signs as a free agent in about 18 months without us giving anything in return. You want to build a dynasty? You don't trade for stars. Fox is only asking this now because he knows he can squeeze a third team all nba spot if he plays with Wemby next year. Then he gets a super max from the Spurs? You want to give 60 million to Fox every year? A fringe all star player. If we go all out it has to be a Luka/Giannis/Ant level player, not a dude who wants to be here. Zach Collins/Keldon Johnson/Tre Jones/Chicago pick, Spurs picks in 2028 and 2030 are my offer. Nothing more. We can wait 18 months to get Fox for free
I think vassell would be an option. I love vassell but fox is a better option at that position, throw in collins, atlantas first and the chicago and charlotte protected. Or swap vassell with keldon and move vassell to the 6th man.
i'm good with it.. he'll be a lot better than Chris Paul and Tre Jones combined. The last 10 games of the Spurs, they always get blown out because whenever Wemby sits, nobody else in the team are able to score consistently. I understand Fox is not a threat at the 3pt area, but, he's a natural scorer, he doesn't need a 3 to score. If u take a look at his last 4 seasons with the Kings, his averages are 25.2, 23.2, 25.00 and 26.6. I say we should get him.
No sochan and castle in the trade. I'm conflicted regarding vassels too since he is quite good on the last 5/8 games . He would be terrific coming out the bench. Now if he wants to come why not just wait he become a free agent?
TSR you gotta stop talking about things that “don’t feel like a Spurs move”. This is not the old spurs. When have we ever been sitting on multiple multiple 1st round picks like this before? We cannot draft all these players man, it’s time to ship them off for an allstar.
This is not even a question. Hard to see them go but I'd trade vassell, keldon, and another piece or picks for Fox. He is simply a great player that fits exceptionally well on the team.

I do not want Fox,i want to stick to the young Spurs development
Fox kinda has the same game as the rest of the roster. They need more bigs

Make or BREAK for the Spurs, make it happen, whatever it takes.
Hope you feel better.. flu not playing this year. Now let those picks fly!
Let’s get young players !!! Hungrier, athletic and not expensive versus star players !!! GSG x 3000 !
What I want to happen.. the Spurs do what they always do and stay pact. Then trade the farm before the draft to land the No.1 pick unless they end up getting it in the lottery naturally

Trade Tre Jones, Collins, give them back Harrison Barnes, a bunch of our seconds, and 2 or 3 first round picks and we get Fox
Don't trade. Wait it out
Do it! Vassel, tre jones, and the spurs 1st round pick in 2026
All Pg like to be a spurs now haha fox we developing castle why need trade for him.I like get Zion his trade value low maybe give 1st round pick and salary like Collins do that

No fox in coyote 's place …
If Fox wants to be in SA, make him wait for it and pick him up in free agency
As a spurs fan, please don't rush the rebuild…go Spurs go…
Well well well 😂 you will be talking about him … bless up
Im not sold on Fox. Three pointer is an issue and he's a small guard.
I feel like Castle could develop into a De'Aaron Fox like PG but it's a gamble. I feel you, TSR, I'm on the fence about this one too.
