So the Heat decided to bring Butler off the bench in an obvious attempt to embarrass him. They knew what his response would be, so they took the opportunity to suspend him indefinitely. Way to take back control of your team, guys. And also to devalue a player that you have no choice but to move on from. This move may have placated the “inmates are running the asylum” crowd, but it does nothing when teams know you now have to take pennies on the dollar for a guy who, though he’s aging , can still be a second or third option for a contending team.
This will impact free agency going forward
The reality is the MEDIA did this. Jimmy has an outlandish ego because he is not as good as advertised and the hype. The false hype went to his head. He is second-tier, yet treated like first tier. He is paid like first tier due to HYPE. The Media disrespects Bam and his contributions to those finals. They disrespected Dragic for his contribution. They don’t tell the truth about Caleb Martin being the most valuable in the last run. Jimmy DISAPPEARED. He had a few moments and the media ran away with it because the NBA desperately needs stars. I think the media day shenanigans over the years was the telling sign but I wasn’t able to fully correlate how this unseriousness at the beginning of the season would translate to just disregard for the importance of the regular season.
