The First-Time NBA All-Stars
Five NBA players woke up this morning as an all-star for the first time.
While five newcomers to the annual honor seems like a lot, the average of newbies each season is actually six, or 23% of the rosters.
Still, only 9 percent of players in history have been All-Stars, so it’s a tremendous honor.
Cade Cunningham became the first Pistons All-Star since Blake Griffin in 2019, ending the longest team drought in the league.
Tyler Herro has played the most seasons of the new editions, averaging a career-high 24.1 points in his sixth year.
Evan Mobley’s first selection makes the league’s top team, the Cavaliers, the only with three All-Stars, along with Donovan Mitchell and two-timer Darius Garland.
In the West, elite rebounder Alperen Sengun is an all-star for the first time, the only representative for the second-place Rockets.
Oh and then rounding out the five first-timers is another center, someone named Victor Wembanyama.
