Fellow Slovenian here. Honestly, I think this is the best move for both teams. The Mavs are aiming for a ring this year or next, and apparently, they’re worried that Luka won’t be able to deliver one. Which, if you look at the stats, is pretty ridiculous—but in reality, this guy has gained like 35 pounds since joining the NBA.
My source also tells me that his two months in Slovenia during the summer were mostly spent drinking and eating. I’m sure these concerns are part of what made the Mavs consider this move in the first place.
This could also be a wake-up call for Luka. If he wants a ring and to put his name on the list of GOATs, he needs an LBJ-type mentality.

As a laker fan, can’t be happier Luka will carry us for 10 years to come. There is nothing that would make Kobe happy in his grave but Luka winning chips for LA. As for the mavs, really why?? I understand if he wants to force a trade but you always been one step away from winning a chip because of Luka.
