Owners want to move Mavericks to Las Vegas, if they took multiple picks, then they could possibly draft next big star, so they only took a 1st rd pick that will be a later pick. If Luka doesn't win in the next 5 years it's because he spent the first 6 years building a team and having a team built around him for him to only be dumped onto an unprepared Lakers who may or may not be able to piece things around him… Luka got to the finals at 25. If we look at all the other superstars who won it all, the next two years was his time to win! Now he's on a new team and it might not happen if the Lakers can't readjust in time.

AD is not going to solve any problems in Dallas. He's unmotivated, soft, inconsistent, and has consistently been a problem for the Lakers (and Pelicans for that matter). Maybe he'll be better as a PF, but I'm not betting on him.

A lot fans and NBA analysts like legler, still haven't figured out that Luka is the European James Harden (Houston). Great offensive player, ball dominant, excellent passer, terrible defender ( no effort), not explosive athletically, bad conditioning (no muscle definition). The Rockets paid Harden a lot of money and didn't win a title. The Mavs ain't trying to give Luka, aka James Harden 2.0 a 300 million dollar contract.

This is so obvious. Luka said he is only going to the lakers. No tesm would empty the roster for a 1 year rental. Usually max players are traded for a bunch of pieces but no max level player and AD is the best laker they could get so there was never a need to call other teams because luke wouldve stayed a year and left for free anyway. I dont have to fully agree with the rationale but i get it
