They WANT YOU to hate them so they can move the mavericks to Vegas! If you really want to stick it to them, support tf out of the team in Dallas so that someone else gets Vegas 😂
Ultimately the owners had the final say on Luka getting traded, not Nico. Patrick Dumont and Miriam Adelson want to build a new arena with a casino complex for the team. Texas has not approved this plan and I do not think will legalize gambling in the state for this reason.
This is what I think – The trade is part of the plan to relocate the Mavericks from Dallas to Las Vegas. So what do you do to make this happen? Just google "Can you move an NBA team to a different state?" and you'll get these answers:
Factors that may influence a relocation
Fan support: The team owner may want to move to a city with more fans – the Luka trade nuked the Dallas fanbase, proof are the comments here of boycott and not watching games anymore.
Facilities: The team owner may want to move to a city with better facilities – American Airlines Center was built in 2001 and Texas has not approved plans to include a casino in the new arena.
Profits: The team owner may want to move to a city with more profitable opportunities – Dumont and Adelson are owners of a casino and resort company in Las Vegas so having the Mavs team relocate there will boost their profits.
The final piece of the puzzle – the league's governors' approval: Make a deal with the NBA, which needs a new face for the league with LeBron retiring soon. Luka fits this role perfectly – not only is he a once-in-a-lifetime player but also has a huge international fan base. This answers the question of why the Mavericks only had the Lakers in the trade and no other teams involved, seamless transition from Lebron to Luka while on NBA's most popular team. A win-win situation for all parties: the NBA, Mavericks owners and the Lakers. The only losers are the Dallas fans.

On top of that most of the recent players joined maverics with idea of playing with Luka, now they got left on ice and baited to come to maverics. 😀
