Every day it becomes more clear that whether it is NBA front offices, or people in the media, arriving at these positions they hold in large part is who you know, not what you know. When listening to Tim Bontemps, it is clear he has no idea what he is talking about, and his level of disdain in conjunction with his ignorance is sad. If Bontemps legitimately does not know why Chicago got involved in the Fox deal, then he should stop putting forth emphatic takes let alone takes at all. As it indicates complete incompetence compounded by illusory certainty. It's disgusting.
The next two drafts can provide teams at the bottom with two core rotation pieces (some of which are complete game changers) extremely fast on rookie deals to build with. Not to mention, these deals they have had and that they are trying to come off of are not exactly good. Empty stats with not much winning. There is a reason nobody has wanted to trade for any of them. Chicago understands this now and is desperately trying to shed all of these contracts. That is why literally EVERY PLAYER they have (outside of Buzelis or White) has been in some sort of trade rumor. The fact they were bad enough to keep their own pick without trading for it is completely IRRELEVANT. So, when Sacramento made whatever requests they made, San Antonio astutely understood this desire from Chicago, unlike you.
Now, all the critiques about their past dealings, sure, like most teams in this league, they are poorly mismanaged. Congrats, your remedial perspective got something correct.
Second, the fact that you cannot gauge what is a good reserve player and what is not also speaks volumes about your knowledge. Keldon Johnson is a solid bench player. While he is struggling from 3 this year tremendously, he is still a 35% career shooter over 6 years. He averages consistently double digit points per game, even in a year such as this with complete roster upheaval. Oh, and he has played 5 less minutes per game this season to boot. Overall, career-wise, he's averaging 15 points, 5 boards, 52% from 2, 35% from 3. And he plays with a level of physicality that is largely lost in today's game. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
Third, you have concerns about the Fox contract? By the end of it he will be 31-32 years of age. That is literally the perfect time for his contract to end. Because the extent to which his body will hold up will become more evident given his style of play. And as Windy pointed out to you, THEY DID NOT GO ALL IN. Then you provide NO EXPLANATION as to why you think the deal will not look great.
Fourth, Zach and Fox are NOT comparable players. A comp is more than just numbers. And again, you provided no explanation other than team-based critiques.
You are remedial. Your level of negative emotion towards the Spurs is palpable. Which means you are wholly unprofessional in addition to your incompetence.
People come to these videos seeking healthy information because many people do not have in-depth basketball knowledge, and some people may just like you for whatever reason that applies to them as individuals. And for you to provide this level of inadequacy in a highly aggressive take speaks volumes about why you should not be in the position you are in. Because the way this pod is framed is not primarily an entertainment pod, it is more of a data pod. Especially seeing has how there are not personalities on this pod.
So, you should really get it together, or please, for those of us who clearly know A LOT more than you, tone it down.

The hate on bon temps is unwarranted. If you have 3 of the same analysts agreeing to everything without giving their own opinion then that's boring. Other podcasts are yes men and keep is vague without pushing the boundaries. Is Fox a franchise player? no. Does he need to prove it in the playoffs? yes.

I just read that the San Antonio spurs draft pick from Chicago “ rolled over” for 3 years…obviously preventing the bulls from trading said first rounders…. Has everyone..including you all…been so interested in badmouthing the bulls that you left that section out? Just asking…. I guess since all the media want the bulls to tank for an obscene amount of years , the bulls gaining the ability to add draft picks to obtain better players to become better that way is an option not worth informing your listeners about.
