As great as Luka is, in the short term, the Mavs win this trade, especially since we don't know his current physical condition. The Lakers also need to trade for another slot man because that rotation of Hayes/Wood/Vanderbilt won't be able to hang with the frontlines of the other contenders, and LeBron plays small despite his size. The Mavs are placing their bets on the ability of Kyrie to carry the offense and AD to backstop him as a two-way contributor. Long-term, in terms of competitiveness and value to the franchise over at least the next five years, Luka brings the Lakers to another level. Plus, they can be flexible with what LeBron wants to do, if he keeps on playing and becomes less effective, requests to be traded, or retires.
Luka doesn't play defense nor does he stay in shape.

actually no one won the trade , Lakers defense would be compromised, Mavs offense would weaken a little bit. The only winner for the this trade is Celtics.
I cant believe they didn't get both of the Lakers 1st rounders, but also Dalton Knecht. All this Nike GM had to do was say, "I can just call other franchises if you'd like. My demands are pretty reasonable." Even the 2nd first and Knecht still would have people saying it wasn't enough. Bridges was 5 firsts. Hopefully this will motivate Luka to grow up.

And what does Boston get out of this. The Celtics are still weak on defense, and infighting internal problems with each other, they are hot cold hot cold. And point guard center problems . Injury prone old age and not real all star talent.
This Luka to LA trade has got LeBron, Klutch Sports, Nike and the NBA written all over it, according to conspiracy theorist. This affects the Cs legitimate trade targets like Walker Kessler as the Lakers are definitely not done trading and are currently looking to upgrade at the 5 spot. The Cs should take advantage of this trading frenzy going on (Luka to LA, Fox to the Spurs, Lavine to the Kings, etc.) and do what it takes to get Kessler (if there is a real interest in acquiring him) or trade for Keon Ellis (since the will be a log jam at the SG position in Sacramento) and wait for the 2025 draft to get a big like Rocco Zikarsky.
