salary wise they have to let expiring walk for nothing and then trade RJ and Jakob Poeltl to cover Brandon Ingrams new 50 million a year contract for 4 years. there will be draft compensation coming back to raptors obviously.
ingram rejected pelicans offer of 40 million a year, cuz he wants 50 million a year. raptors dont pay him that after trading for him, he will walk for nothing to another team if he has to take less.

Ingram will actually help the tank if we have to trade a RJ or IQ, and if Ingram sits for the rest of the year. But not sure if he is worth a max contract.
Ingram might want big money but no team is playing him close to the max and if they do it's a massive mistake in the current NBA landscape.

BI is very talented and he could help the Raptors but he hasn’t played more than 65 games since his rookie season.

Ingram is a very good player but not a $50 million dollar a year player. His next contract will be an albatross. Rudy Gay v2.0.
If it is like Brown and Boucher and no 1rd picks go for it. I am all for making the Pelicans better and jumping us in the standings. Give Ingram more time than he needs to recover from his injury. RJ is a bad move for Ingram. If I was looking at a RJ trade I would be looking at team like the Pistons, I love Duren and Thompson. Thompson has had a rough start but his defense is great and his bother is on the way to stardom in Houston. I think he turns it around next year now he is through the blood clot thing. I would love the Raptors to get these two players out of Detroit. I would even sacrifice that 1st from Indiana next year if we had to to get these two player out of Detroit.

Ingram is NOT a good deal – BI is a RENTAL – He wants 45M + next year from a contender in the southern weather belt. . He's not going to extend with the Raptors. And he's good – but he doesn't give this team the size it needs. It's not happening. YES THE RAPS ARE TRYING FOR SOMETHING BIG – but it's not Ingram. Raps are all over Zion – unsure it can happen. Pels are waffling on the direction with him. But They have the expiring picks and prospects to make any deal Pelicans want to make once they finally decide to make it.

If we have to make a bigger trade I would think BI to GSW if they can’t get KD or Jimmy B. I almost think GSW could use him more than Jimmy. We could send expires (BB + KO) to Pels and we could get Andrew W and expire Gary P II. The draft pick exchange the FOs would have to figure the value and pressure points.
