I remember when we were discussing Tre Young trade rumours and Ethan said that he'd like to see someone like Fox on the team. I cannot believe it only took a couple months and this is reality now!
Now all we need is a strong backup C and clean line-ups, and… one full season of Sochan having a defined role on the team that fits him. The dude works so hard, but he's seen as a failed playmaker and a pushover in the paint because he's been asked to play PG and C in his 2nd and 3rd season.
Saying De'Aaron Fox is better than prime Chris Paul in any aspect of basketball is crazy.
Do we tank ??? Will Mitch stop to play this fucking smallball with the second unit ??
Since beginning of January, genius idea, Mitch has decided not to use its frontcourt players : Collins gone (previously on the bench), Bassey only played 6 minutes yesterday, Mamu 3 minutes !
As soon as Wemby went to the bench, our great coach thinks (if it is not asked by the management to be sure to be in the lottery, I wonder…) that this smallball tactic (with only Sochan or Barnes as big on court) will work with our elite 3-point shooters and so good off-ball defenders that they are completely lost when they have to make a switch (leading to open 3s !!).
As soon as this tactic is put in place, Jenkins is answering with two bigs (JJr and Edey or JJr and Aldama) on court. In defense, they let the worst shooters (Keldon, Castle, Sochan) completely open at the perimeter to block any drives with several defenders. I have seen Castle being alone at the perimeter without any Memphis players at less than 2 meters. And when Keldon tries to drive, he is opposed to two or three defenders. As a result, a missed lay-up or worst a block.
Offensively Memphis can take tons of offensive rebounds (a little bit less yesterday than the two previous games against Memphis) because we have only small players to fight against the bigs of Memphis in our paint.
Yesterday, Memphis won by 19 points. Wemby is… +8 !!!!
Mitch, please, STOP THE SMALLBALL and use your only frontcourt players (Mamu and Bassey) because you cannot play smallball with our current players (the Spurs second unit players are not the OKC' ones !!).
And we lost our only two-way contract PF (Minix) for the season without any answers from the management.
Mitch is reinventing the basketball :
1) Frontcourt players are useless !!
2) Let's gather bad 3-point shooters and bad off-ball defenders and let's organize a smallball tactic (with switch-all ?? no switch how we managed to perform….) !!
3) Wahou… Portland reach our number of wins. More percentages for us to get a top4 draft pick !!
This game is the exact copy of the first two games in San Antonio. Jenkins has totally outplayed Mitch Johnson !!
I predict a same kind of blow-out in Memphis the 1st of March !!
No disrespect to him but think Devin Vassel might be injured. It might be an undisclosed injury on his hands or fingers. His shooting has just fallen off a cliff he’s missing shots he would have made last year
