Theis can be an assurance against the Mavs who OKC can meet in the first round with Mavs currently 8-ish. Mavs have a huge and formidable frontline of AD, Lively, Gafford, and PJ. Their young wings (Omax and Kessler) are raw but are big and athletic defenders.

This Thunder defense reminds me of the Detroit Bad Boys without the felonies, and Shai is a taller version of Isaiah Thomas minus the smirk. This is going to be a fun playoff run. I'm not overly concerned with Chet infusing back into the rotation. That's the beauty of a high BBIQ. He's studying and envisioning himself on the floor with IHart and it will be crazy good by the time the playoffs roll around.

The MVP debate has become a complete joke! Has anyone paid attn to Denver the last 2mos? Their other Big 3- MPJ, J.Murray & A.Gordon are putting up big numbers almost every night! C.Braun has been avg 20pts on 60/42/91 shooting splits this yr. Russ has been great. J.Strawther has been hitting his 3's. Sorry that Jokic 'only' has 5 very good players around him. Who thinks the Thunders 5 best players around Shai are clearly better than MPJ, Gordon, Murray, Braun & Russ? (JDub, IHart, Dort, Cason & I.Joe). OKC & Denver are in a tier of their own in the West.
The Thunder defense does set them apart. When they click and get hot, they are stifling, swarming and stealing. It's so much fun to watch.
We are sitting at #1 of 30. No team wins every game of the season. With SGA's offense and the team's swarming defense, they are poised to compete for the championship.
At this time before the looming deadline, the Nets should give Johnson to the Thunder for just picks if they have no better offers. The Nets need to get set to tank.
SGA is like Atlas with the world on his shoulders. The way Shai is handling his offense and defense with all the injuries to the team is amazing.
Caruso's defense is awesome. He makes you watch and enjoy every swipe and steal. He brings excitement to the floor. Getting him was a huge upgrade for the team.
I would like to see the Thunder talk to Chris Paul about a back up point guard that mentors the young players. He already gets along with most of the team. He seems happy with the Spurs but he might want a good chance at a ring.

The flaw in your logic at the end here is that the fans all saw our two issues last year were Giddey and another big. Had we made moves at last year’s deadline we could be the reigning champions. Speculation obviously but the team is so good now, why not put in all the chips to raise our chances of winning it all from 60 to 80% for example. If already so close, let’s put our best foot forward to guarantee the chip rather than wait to build it the next year
If only playoff basketball was the same as regular season basketball. Unfortunately it’s not.
