Who’s to blame for the Phoenix Suns’ Toxic culture?

The NBA trade deadline has come and gone and the Phoenix Suns did nothing of significance. What can the team do now and in the future to fix things? ESPN and @ALLCITY_NBA ‘s Tim Legler stops by to share his opinion.

  1. The top talent is overrated .
The nuggets wouldn't trade you mpj for beal
Booker while great isn't a D wade level guard which was a top 6 player in the league at his peak.

What really makes this team not function is that roster construction make no sense.
They put together 5-6 guards and have 2 centers that are bench level centers

Meaning they can't defend the paint. They have no size to clog up the passing lanes or contest shots in the perimeter.
They can't guard the man in front of them.
They can't switch on defense. They can't rebound

The only thing they can do is shoot.
The only thing that surprises me about this team is how bad they are at taking care of the ball and how bad their pace is..

  2. Who, who, who is responsible for getting the Suns to jell? Who, who, who hasn't solved the serious turnover problem? Who, who, who has this team jacking up low percentage threes, given that they are not good at it, rather than high percentage twos? In one game they shot 32 threes, and only hit 12. If that makes basketball sense, then so is dribbling a football. Superstar players, as in this case, have to adjust their game to the coach's thinking style, rather than the coach adjusting his style to what made these players superstars. Now, signing Richards is not going to make a significant difference, because he doesn't have the needed basketball skills of a Deandre Ayton, who can score inside and rebound. I truly believe in the saying, "If you always do, what you always did, you'll always get what you always got."

  3. The suns are stupid. Way to go for destroying your own franchise. Yeah I'm with Durant dipping anyway. This organization is cursed. Goodl uck with dbook y'all 😂

  4. Most everyone outside of you Phoenix fans and Book stans think the problem is they want KD to play 2nd option to a true 2nd option in Book and most likely they're afraid of Book asking out if it's enforced… and please stop calling Book a superstar.. he's not! Let's just be honest "Books holding this team hostage"

  5. Bradley Beal torpedoed this team by not doing the right thing in waving his no trade clause; he's the problem, he's making 50 million dollars and he's playing like the 12th man on the bench; the Suns should have NEVER traded for him, he doesn't care about winning and the Wizards 🤡 are a joke for giving him a no trade clause in the 1st place, like what has he ever done in this league to deserve a no trade clause; the Wizards will forever be a terrible franchise

  6. They are small. No rebounding. With no rebounds you cannot shoot the ball. this team is doomed.

  7. 5:48 This USED to be how our team played. Instead of nuking the config we had. Ishbia is at the top of the list for how we ended up here 🤷🏼‍♂️

  8. They won’t reach play off to many wrong moves – they choose Richard’s rather than Williams who is a better Center lol and trade nurkic giving 1st rounds pick on a class b forward

  9. Suns have to add more size. What team in the league is good while being short and slow. We can't guard the perimeter, rim protect or shot block. We basically are bbq chicken. A power forward and a starting center would've done wonders for this team

  10. Hmmmm wasn’t this the issue last year and Vogel was blamed!!
It’s funny because when Nurk mentioned this a few weeks ago my man was making fun of him if i recall correctly 🤔

EVERYONE is to blame for this even us as fans cause we’re toxic as well.

  11. The Suns didn’t need to do anything major at the deadline. There is nothing wrong with them. The talent in the NBA is awesome. There is complete parity throughout the league. There are so many good teams and so many talented players on every team.

  12. Easier to assemble 3 stars these days than in the past because the players have so much power where they go. This Suns team will be NBA GM’s chapter 2 lesson. If you assemble 3 stars they better have much different skills sets. This big 3 are great mid range players and take up the entire salary cap. Never can and never will work. They are a complete mess and have no chance at a title with this group. Facts

  13. Stupid to marry a woman that you are not so sure about in Beal … the management is a bunch of drunk gamblers who are wasting the time of KD and Booker – sad to say they deserve a better place.

  14. Durant fan from day 1 here. I’ve unfortunately seen this story before .. He’s a wanderer. Hired gun. Things get old for him fast on teams. Every team he goes to there’s this moody cloud that follows. He always seems moody and vibes tend to go left after some time in the locker room. All the coaches fired, all the trades for all stars to team with him, it only worked in golden state bc of the culture was set. He’s not a culture setter. He finds his place and blends in to show he’s coachable. He’s an alpha skill/talent but beta leadership/intangibles. He lacks the intangible lebron, Giannis, Steph and other all time players have where outside of just scoring and skill and wow moments on display, there’s that extra added bonus. He doesn’t galvanize and get guys to play with force. His stature as an all time great says he should but it’s not in him. Big games he talks them down, not really interested in theatrics or rivalries. Just another game. The opposing teams bring physicality and force and his teams usually buckle bc they mirror his personality. He’s the best player on a title team but his lack of intangible to lead guys and get them to play with force/aggresion from his example is why outside okc with Russ as the tone setter and the warriors with Steph as the leader and draymond as the tone setter, he’s not able to create that for his teams. A jimmy trade would’ve helped this team for the next few years. He brings the intangibles that got him multiple finals appearances with less talent in Miami. Book is not a leader either. He’s a #2 fans want to be a #1. It is what it is 🤷‍♂️. He’s not top 3 at his own position any longer. He’s apexed as a player. Dont see this team turning it around unfortunately.

  15. Booker needs to understand he's not in KD level and should accept option2 like steph did if he wants to win stop the ego stuff. that fuquing coach also put kd on corner watching the team goin scoreless time and time again. I would like to know what the coach's reason is for putting kd in the corner during the entire game almost and happend every game, suns will not win games if they use kd like that . funny part kd still avg 27+ ppg

  16. Ishbia came in and set the precedent that you can win with three players and crumbs but when the crumbs don’t shine they try and put anyone’s name in trade conversation just to make things more internally awkward.

  17. toxic? jesus… lets get real here. They are disappointing. no doubt about it. they ARE a 500 team though. It's not like they're a .250 team. Made some bad moves… definitely. but toxic? no…

  18. Every team has injuries, but Suns would look better in the standings if health had been better this year. The team is not that far off and was never beating OKC this year regardless of what trade we made. But now they managed to make KD mad, great job.

  19. The problem was Ishbia just sold to the first bidder when it came to Beal.

He should have thought through building a roster more than getting another player that doesn't work on this team.
