I agree with almost everything you said. This is totally different than the Yak p situation. We are trading for a previous all star, who is currently injured and will be out at least 2-4 weeks sounds like. They can milk that. Mr RR Scottie Barnes it's not a first option I don't think he's a second option either is like a draymond Green he is a connector not a three level score he's not quick he's not athletic slow-footed we need Brandon Ingram an ace Bailey Devin Harper are Cooper flag any one of those guys would help the Raptors and be the real franchise player that's what my eye test sees when I watch the Raptors team running with Scotty Barnes
I like your take i feel like they could sit ingram and wiseman and still get high pick and next season if healthy could be in a good situation even of moves need to be made
If he stays for something like $110 million/ 3 years, I think it's a win. That and he needs to be HEALTHY. I don't see him playing much this season, Raptors are going to keep the tank going. I'm excited about IQ, RJ, Scottie, BI, and Jak as the starting 5 with a lot of young talent off the bench. Hopefully Wiseman heals up too, he's got great potential as the back up 5.
lot of these just look like nicks and dents type injuries that come from a season long of competitive playing, nothing like torn muscles, broken bones, etc.

The 3 biggest points are 1 If BI goes from 6 3s a game to 9-10 does he keep his 36% shooting? Min 35% if yes you can reduce his contact with other players and help his health as he is a slight player. Same size as Scottie but 30-35 pounds lighter. Can you get IQ or RJ or to create and hit BI for 3? 2 contract to help chemistry could he sign 3 years same as Scottie first 2 then flatten for 3 or 4th ? That bing $38.7, 41.7, 42, 42. This would be good and fair but NBA players not always self aware set of folks? 3 stay healthy ish 3-4 years 60 games should be goal and is above his 8 year average. That would also be what Kawhi L gave you Chip year. This also allows others like Gradey from time to time to take on bigger roles.
Mmm, I flip back and forth on the trade. This could go way too many ways and one of the reasons no one wants him is his slow pace ball stopping get in your bag style offence. Not that he is Julius Randle levels on this front but he doesn't fit many places IMO. I talking for ring chasing, not putting out a solid product. He actually a fun player to watch but this could end up being a Zach Lavine/John Wall at the same time. Everyone is moveabke in a sense but its gotten much harder to think like that. Its just a high variance move but I am starting to lean towards it working out more. I certainly wasn't thinking that before the trade.. at all. What we gave up makes it all sting a lot less though
As long as we’re still in the running for Flagg I’m happy. There’s so much that up in the air for me to be happy at the moment, but I’m intrigued by it all.
Finally a voice of reason, this is a great trade. The tank is still alive, and the raptors will be a better team next year.
What you don’t want is to be bad for 5 seasons like the wizards or even Portland. They traded CJ and Dame, got the number two pick, and still have no direction.
Scottie has struggled (at times mightily) being the #1 Defender and trying to operate an Offense, so in theory Ingram should help him out alot (OFFensively). Then maybe Scottie B can realistically now make a run for All-Defense Teams over the next 31 games Left in the season
Assuming Scottie doesn't miss 18 games this year that is. – Also looks like this summer will be when we find out if
Ingram sticks around or was just a rental for 3 months (possibly Sign & Trade)
I think you were spot on, i hear a lot of pessimistic takes on this trade, but i see your perspective after you laid out facts from various angles, signing for 3 years is exactly what I think he'll do, and we have the best medical staff in the NBA. This trait definitely has the potential of being steal, and the ultimate would be to land a generational, top five player in this draft. Go Raps!!!!!!
Do you believe Gradey and Walter development will be set back getting bench minutes? Cause if the Dinos give Ingram a 3 year max deal with player option in year 3 he will be your starting 3 with Quick at point and RJ at the 2 guard, Scottie at the 4 and Yak at 5………
I don't think we would have been able to trade for a player that's the caliber of Brandon Ingram under normal circumstances. I am confident that they talk to his camp and that he's interested in resigning. I don't think they will sign him for the Max available. I'm thinking maximum $120 million over the length of the contract. I also have faith in Alex McKechniie, given his ability to keep Kawhi Leonard on the floor. This is something not even the Clippers have been able to do consistently. So if it takes load management I'm fine with that. I think he's one of the best team doctors in the league. I also think that the Pelicans are not the best team in terms of medical management of their personnel. Just look at the way that they've handled Zion and it seems like their players are injured for longer periods of time given the injuries that they are reporting. A high ankle sprain out since December 7th. Seems like a long time. I don't know. I think Alex can work his magic.
