There is no loyalty in business. Players try to get as much money for themselves as possible. Teams have to trade players to better their team. No players refund any money to the team when performance degraded.
Why would you give up AJ Johnson he has tremendous potential? Kuzma averaged 15ppg for the worst team in the league, shooting 42% from 2 and 28% from 3, again for the worst team in the league. Normally when a baller comes from a team like that it’s an easy 20 piece. So now you’re going to a good team, definitely not a great Bucks team that struggles mightily on perimeter defense. Again we win the award for getting the same type of player kind of soft,no defense, or older player with no defense. I would make the argument the Bucks regressed offensively, and you will get the same level of defense from an injured Middleton. You got rid of the salary, and an often injured player but you are worse on offense and about the same on defense with a younger player. It gives you salary flexibility but kills your Dame and Greek timeline which is ticking. I counted 6 wing players that were probably better than Kuzma offensively and a 100% better on defense and effort that played on good teams.
