To win and be competitive, the Spurs need a third top-level player. They need to develop Castle, who is already at an excellent level. He needs to improve his shooting to become a top player!
The last 4 games are against mediocre to bad teams and Castle is playing most of his minutes against the other team's bench players. Don't delude yourself that he will do that against good teams. . Wemby, Vassell, Fox(not so much), Sochan, and Paul doing the heavy lifting in the 4th. Champagne playied 0 minutes and Castle 5. Wemby and Vassell played 12 each.
The flip side to Paul taking a role off the bench could be a long-term decision. I believe part of the reason CP3 came to the Spurs is because of the Spurs coaching tree. I think CP3 wants to be a coach after he is done playing. You can see the passion for making his team better on the court. I see him accepting whatever role he is needed based on a possible spot on the coaching staff after he's done playing.
