  1. All in all, this was expected. I'm not sure what the Raptors goal is? They are good enough to be a middling 6th seed in the East, maybe… At best. RJ Barrett isn't what they thought he'd be. It's just a mediocre…

  2. Solid deal for both. They aren't getting anyone with the talent of BI to sign there in the next 3 years. They're also looking at a Top 5 pick in a good looking 2025 class.

  3. I think his contract situation is probably in the same light with Klays extension time with the warriors/mavs.
BI probably felt under appreciated and wanted more compensation for what his value was to the team hes been on for several years … Klay also felt underappreciated and was not willing to sign a 2 year 48m deal with the warriors, yet signed a 3 year 50m deal with the mavs.
Both players get a new start in a diff environment with different opportunities for their careers.

  4. He’s overpaid because he gets injured a lot. He is a starter on a contender but can he stay healthy? It’s a gamble.

  5. Yeah that's if Ingram stays I've seen this movie before a huge big name superstar signs leaves for example bosh signed even got drafted by the raptors well that wasn't working anyway but at the same time you have to remember kawhi signed and left

  6. So the cap space to resign Siakam has +turned Siakam into Brandom Ingram+2 first round picks. Not a bad return for a guy who was not going to resign in Toronto.

  7. It’s disingenuous to look at 65 games played to evaluate BI. He played 61 and 62 games from 2019-21 when it was only 72 game seasons. Also, it’s Tuh-ronno, the second t is silent!

  8. Coming from someone whos watched him religiously the last 5 years a d followed that situation with a magnifying glass … ill say this. New orleans made him a scape goat the last year. REAL pels fans will tell you what he meant to that team. Last year the pels offered him 50 mill a yewr over 3 years. His previous agent pushed him o turn it down in favor of 4 years, the pelicans said no and than 6 months later bi fired that agent and hired rich paul. THIS season the pels did offer him 40 mill. The duration nobody knows but i think by this point he was done with david griffen and the pels brass. Both times theyve made the playoffs the last 4 years, it was with bi leading the way and no zion. In 22 he had took a hurt cj , 3 rookies playing 30+ minutes ( jose , trey and herb jones) and jv to the playoffs against the suns and put up 28/6/6 against a #1 seed. He was healthy than. Last year he missed the whole last month of the season due to a nasty knee hyper extension, than when cleared to play goes directly into the okc series. He plsyed like shit. Was clearly not 100% legs had no lift. He wasnt in game shape. And he stunk it up. Seems like ever since THAT series the pels organization turned on him. In terms of what he brings to toronto , if that legendary raptors medical staff can keep him healthy ? Look out is all im gonna say. He might go OFF

  9. im going to guess year 3 is a player option. he'll be 29. if he can show hes healthy n still an allstar the next 2 years n the Raptors can get passed the first round that 2nd year, he'll opt out n look for a max.

  10. Every Raptors Signing is an "Over Pay" what do you want them to do just keep the money? You pay calibrate players. It's not rocket science. Ppl only criticism because he's not on their team; but once they leave OHHH "this guys awsome zomg" Pascal got paid and y'all said he wasn't a max player ooop all star again… 🤷🏾‍♂️ Y'all r fickle af.

  11. Considering it's the Raptors (very hard to draw free agents), this is a smart move. Next year's team is looking hot! RJ and Scottie as 2nd/ 3rd options. Solid team for a run at 4th in the East next year.

  12. Raps are 5 games out of 10th play in. Bulls are full on tank. Philly looks terrible. With the easiest schedule left. Raps might just slide into the 10th spot

  13. The question here is can you play BI at shooting gaurd that would help with some of his defensive issues and make things difficult for other SG in the leauge having to shoot over his length ..this also leaves him and Quickly in the back court a lot better shooters and RJ and Scotty to cut in the paint

  14. Utah and NO offered more money, but he didn’t want to go to the Jazz and certainly wanted to leave NO

  15. Raptors build out there roster by getting a players bird rights and then do not have to gut the team to get enough cap space to sign guys. They are a master pre agency

  16. Way way overpaid. And now The Raptors are saying don`t expect him to play anymore at all this season ???? The fact that Ingram is ok with sitting tells you all you need to know about his real
killer motivation ? What little he has got left just got put to bed with that big new contract . He will coast on into his later veteran years getting injured often and winning not much at all .

  17. They effectively turned Pascal Siacam, OG Anunoby, Kelly Olynyk, Precious Achiuwa and one first round pick into BI, Quickley and Barrett, Jamal Shead and three first round picks in past 12 months. That seems like pretty good GMing to me, Pascal got 4 years and $190m from the Pacers and OG got 5 years and $211 million from the Knicks, so it’s not like the Raptors would have saved money overpaying to keeping those guys instead. Pascal is making $14m more than RJ and having basically the season and while OG is fine, he’s a high end role player making superstar money which isn’t ideal for a team like the Raps. Ingram isn’t the two-way player OG is but they are about the same age and his ceiling is higher, I don’t see that as a bad tradeoff.

The cap keeps rising and we will be looking at $80m Supermax contracts for Jaylen Brown level players in 2-3 years. 3 years and $120 million seems perfectly fine to me, It’s short enough that if Ingram doesn’t pan out he’s not stuck on the books forever, and Ingram gets a little more per season in exchange for not getting a 4 or 5 year deal.
