Luka is a generational talent. With Luka you can do more with less. In the short term the Mavericks got better but in the long term the Lakers will be a competitive team.
In the trade both teams got what they wanted, the Maverick got better even though they moved on from Luka. If the Mavs get back all their players before the playoffs, they will be a very hard team to beat in a 7 game series..
