NBA Execs Laugh at the Hornets? | Mark Williams Trade Fallout | Will Cooper Flagg Stay at Duke?

The Mark Williams saga continues as Adam Silver weighs in on whether the Hornets have officially challenged the rescinded Lakers trade. Plus, could Cooper Flagg actually stay at Duke another year, leaving the 2025 NBA Draft without its consensus No. 1 pick?

Mark Williams was supposed to be a Laker, but after a failed physical and a rescinded trade, he’s still a Charlotte Hornet—yet not even with the team. Now, Adam Silver has spoken, confirming the Hornets have yet to file an official complaint against the Lakers. So what’s next? Is there any realistic path forward, or has Charlotte lost all leverage? Doug and Walker debate whether the Hornets’ handling of the situation makes them look weak around the league and what it means for their relationship with Mark Williams moving forward.

Meanwhile, top prospect Cooper Flagg is making headlines with his recent comments about potentially staying at Duke for another season. Is this a real possibility, or just draft-cycle noise? Doug breaks down what this would mean for the Hornets if they land the No. 1 pick and how the 2024 NBA Draft could shake out if Flagg isn’t in the mix.

Plus, Doug has radical ideas for fixing NBA All-Star Weekend, including a tournament-style format and a full-on “try-hard” MVP award. Could these ideas revive a struggling event? All that and more on today’s episode of Locked On Hornets!

  1. Im way more of a duke fan than a hornets fan, so I'd love for cooper flagg to stay another year, i think he'll be a better college player than nba player anyway

  2. You guys kinda insinuated that the Lakers may have had cold feet and backed out of the trade so if that’s true why isn’t Mark Williams playing cause if he was so healthy get him back on the court to show that maybe it was cold feet but it makes the Hornets look bad cause they’re not even playing Mark Williams but either way the GM of the Hornets should move on and get him back on the court I think Mark Williams is a good player if he can somehow stay healthy

  3. Tbh me and my buddies really enjoyed the game time crew talking, agree with y’all that Kevin Hart was not the correct choice. But Chuck being Chuck is always entertaining. We just reminisced about the iconic shaq moon & gas theories. Was halfway entertained by the tournament format.

  4. Lakers got cold feet? When they desperately need a big they can pair with Luka? They signed Alex Len after the Williams trade was nixed just so they could have a big body to stand in the paint and look menacing. Len isn’t at all good but they need a 5 in a baaad way. Their GM even said so during the Luka introductory press conference. And this summer they’ll absolutely be looking for a good center. Would be malpractice if they didn’t. To say that they got cold feet and rescinded the trade in bad faith is dumb. I expect better analysis/takes from people who talk NBA on a daily basis

  5. Medical issues cannot be disclosed for HIPA regulations, unless consent is given by the patient. That's why it won't come out, but because the Lakers are trying to be quiet about it or have cold feet.

  6. The NBA should have their own medical eval team for trades and should hold trades for like a week during this time. Remember, the Hornets also traded FOR a center after trading Williams to the Lakers so it also had other dominoes. Had this whole thing been turned around the other way you can GUARANTEE that the Lakers would have some say and or recompense.

  7. The Lakers should have to show what specifically was revealed in their "physical" that was not in the copious amounts of medical records provided by the hornets before the trade was confirmed. If there "new" concerns could have or should have reasonably been determined from the medical records provided… then the Lakers should not be allowed to rescind. You cant reward the Lakers for failing to do their due diligence.

  8. Hornets fans are like the stories we hear when the guy robbing your house slips and falls, then sues you for it…😂😂😂

  9. The Hornets have no shot b/c no team is going to want the NBA or other teams telling them to accept a player they feel like, in their opinion, failed a physical. Basically, while other teams may not want to be in Charlotte's position, they REALLY don't want to be in the Lakers' position if the NBA forced the trade thru.

  10. How important do you guys think it is for players like Lamelo and even Mark ( assuming he is back) to play the rest of this season even if there is no post season? Do they need to prove they can stay out on the court at this point or is rest more important? I’m going to a game in March and I hope they will be playing! Do you think it’s important to this version of the franchise to keep the games at least entertaining for the fans? I’m not at the point where I want to see the g league play.

  11. Stop with the lakers blame. Your franchise is doomed to mediocrity unless yall look at yourselves I’ve been ripping Pelinka on any site I can for not getting the lakers a big maybe look at your gm
