Who will be the Cleveland Cavaliers’ MVP of the 2nd half of the season?

Who will the MVP be for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second half of the season?

With the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend in the rearview mirror, the Cavs are preparing for the final stretch of the season with 28 games remaining. This is the time when NBA competition ramps up, as the battle for seeding and jockeying for position intensifies.

Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley have staked their claim as the stars of this squad, but there are plenty of others on this team who can step up even more as we head into the spring.

Could we see De’Andre Hunter take that mantle? Is Max Strus going to continue finding his form? Jarrett Allen or Ty Jerome?

The guys discuss.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Cleveland duo Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell teamed up to knock off hometown heroes Moses Moody and Draymond Green to win the NBA’s Skills Challenge crown on All-Star Saturday night.

The final game after San Antonio’s duo of Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul was disqualified for trying to cheat the rules in the obstacle course that features players speeding through stations with various passing and shooting drills.

The Cavaliers went first in the final round and raced through the course in 1 minute, 0.3 seconds as Mobley and Mitchell easily made almost all of their shots from three spots on the floor on their first attempt.

Moody made it through the first round easily for the Golden State’s duo but Green missed all three chest passes and struggled to make his shots. He couldn’t even make it to the final two stations before time ran out to match the time set by Cleveland.

Wembanyama and Paul went first in the opening round and were loudly booed for not even trying to make real attempts on their shots, just tossing the balls off the racks. They were ultimately disqualified.

The rookie team of Atlanta’s Zaccharie Risacher and Washington’s Alex Sarr were also eliminated in the first round with their time of 1:20.6 ending up 1.2 seconds behind the Cavaliers.

The 3-point Contest and Slam Dunk Contest are still to be decided.

  1. Donovan Mitchell because he's established himself in the league and I think as much growth as Mobley and Garland have shown, and the stability that Allan provides. Mitchell is the one who has the resume to draw on and will probably ramp up in the second half and the playoffs.

  2. It’s Mitchell man stop doing the mental gymnastics. Mobley 2 way impact make him the 2nd best should be but Mitchell is the engine for this team.

  3. They have mastered regular season hoops they have the formula comes down to provide physicality… and resistance on rebounds/defense against Cavs and Knicks.

  4. Mobley is the answer period! Mobley needs to become a Beast a Monster on the court both defensively but mainly offensively because he has the skills to effect both ends of the floor and if he finishes this last 28 games of the season healthy and playing to his maximum level the Cavs will win the Championship so let's all enjoy the rest of the season and continue to watch this team grow and learn how to Dominate because Mobley needs to be Dominant and that's why he's my pick." Let's Go Cavs"!

  5. I expect it to be Mitchell, I assume he will start to turn it up as they head into the postseason but I wouldn’t be suprised if it was Mobley either.

  6. Jarrett Allen, same as first half of season. Many on team are great scorers, passers, even defense. Cavs excell in most aspects, average rebounding when Allen is playing, but rebounding often is terrible when Allen is on bench.

  7. I'm 41 and my wife just bought me a Mobley Swingman jersey. I'm black and latino, btw. Y'all can kick rocks. I'm going to the game vs. the Clippers next month and I can't wait to wear my joint.

Stop tryna take away my youth! 😂

  8. Mitchell has sacrificed a lot already, I'd be totally fine if he turns things up a bit more down the stretch. That being said, if the Cavs blow teams out badly he'll play less and have less production which is a good thing for the team. We want these guys to be as close to 100% as they can be before playoffs.

  9. My opinion is that this offense runs off Darius Garland. When he establishes the 3, defenses have to come out and commit to guarding his way out on the perimeter, then he uses the handle and penetrates and dishes, and everything starts rolling and everyone gets space. Donovan sometimes gets too focused on the step back and these long 2s and 3s can contain and contest. Mobley is great, but he still needs the space Darius creates. It's all about Darius and that 3 point shot opening up everything else.

  10. Finally, G. Bush got it right. But to win this championship, they need Hunter to step up as the second-best player and Mobley to be the defensive anchor.

People don’t realize how good Hunter is just because he was injured. I’ve watched him against top teams—Boston, New York, San Antonio, and the Lakers—and he was the difference-maker every time.
