It's becoming increasingly clear that the 2021 playoffs were the fluke, not the Bubble. All 4 of the 2021 conference finalists made huge flailing moves to maintain relevance (KD/Beal, Westbrook/Harden, Dame, Dejounte) and none have seen another conference finals. Meanwhile all of the 2020 conference finals teams were back there in 2023, and 2 won championships since.
I’m from phoenix Arizona; die hard suns fan and I don’t think there was really anyway to save this team. I think our failures are due to Booker not being as good as people thought he was. That fluke 2021 finals run put Booker into a category he never belonged. Look how fast the jazz moved on from Mitchell. We should have traded Booker years ago and built from the ground up.

As a Suns fan, the base of all these problems was the lack of depth resulting from the failed lottery picks of the late 2010s. They missed on two separate #4 picks in Josh Jackson and Dragan Bender, and obviously missed picking Ayton over Luka. Even the 2021 finals team was only about 8 deep at max. Trading away 3 players (Jae Crowder was involved too!) in the Durant trade, then two players in the Beal trade, then what ended up being 2 players for one in the Ayton trade, made them even shallower.
Also if they didn't make the Beal trade they were going to waive an aging cp3 anyway. Chris Haynes reported it! Would've given them the space to sign a taxpayer mle player. Does that really make them better?

It's funny you mention KD to Dallas towards the end, because if the Mavs actually rinsed the Lakers for all they had with Luka, they could've turned around and gotten KD. Ending up with Kyrie/KD/AD might've been satisfactory enough to not have public funeral near the arena lmao

We have to stop saying KD is playing like one of the best players in the world. He’s not. He’s still a great scorer and will always put up numbers, but he’s not in the same category anymore as the actual best players in the world. He doesn’t impact the game as guys like Jokic, Giannis, Luka or SGA do at this point. He’s a very good player, not one of the best players in the NBA.
KD is not a top 5 player and MVP candidate. Stop this. That trade was a disaster.
