  1. I get why it’s tough for you guys to talk about tbh. You guys (along with everyone else mavericks media related) have preached to us about how this team has been and always will only be about Luka. ___ _____ player fits perfectly around Luka, will Luka be healthy, Luka doesn’t need to be in shape because he’ll always eternally average 29/9/9 even if that physical change could take him to the next level , no criticism of Luka will ever matter because he is Luka and of course Luka could never not be Luka. So now the team plays well and the first analysis will have to be let’s look at stats and figure out how to make sense of the fact that a team without Luka can win and the only answer with previous Luka brain will be the players that are working their asses off got lucky and shot well (variance games can be melded) or the other team played bad. I wouldn’t say it’s cult like behavior but it does seem like some kind of social conditioning based off a par-asocial love for someone. Nothing wrong with loving someone you don’t know though. It happens to everyone. Even if it’s comes off as pathetic for someone that isn’t of that mindset that can look at a Luka trade and sees how it makes sense just like there is an argument for any player ever to be traded. Even if the package was trash.

Only thing I ask is please stop the “after everything this team has been through” nonsense if you include the Luka trade in that. That affects the players for a couple games until the new team players get acclimated and then it’s all good. It’s like how everyone wanted to do body language analysis the first game with 8 players out and then when the players came out since then and seem in great spirits, total silence. The real thing they had to go through is historically bad injury luck and a fanbase that can’t handle the love of their life playing for another team.

  2. Maybe the mavericks aren’t in crisis. Why do you think they are? I imagine the issue is they keep getting heat for something they feel is over and done so they don’t know how to respond. Where is the crisis? Fans that don’t care about winning and only watch basketball for behind the back passes are upset and Dallas keeps winning. Is it an abstract crisis?

  3. I am unsuscribing from all Mavs media.
I am sad, it's been a really fun few years of fandom!
Can't stand the Mavericks anymore, actually I HATE THE TEAM.
Thank you Kirk and Josh for your work, time to move on

  4. Got some huge resentment toward this team. Flat out turned off, and despise all they’re about now (still love the players tho.) I’m still gonna watch every podmaverick I can. Y’all are the best.

  5. This is a good broadcast but they have missed 3 critical things about the Mavs that will make them the best T-E-A-M in the league when their bigs return.

1.) their depth…[they are solid 11 deep cuz injuries have forced role players to step-up].

2.) they're length, speed, size and team basketball IQ is exceptional.

3.) the entire team has the mindset of it's coach, Jason Kidd, who was a smart, long, fundamentally sound defensive wizard who kept his team engaged, involved and sharp.

When healthy, they will have the best front court in basketball; the best uptempo facilitator in the NBA; the best T-E-A-M defense and depth as well.

    Plus,

I believe Jason Kidd is one of the top 5 coaches in the league. On the entire team only Kyrie, AD and Klay are over 30…the average age of the other 12 players is 24.

Nico has done a magnificent job and set them up to win N-O-W and in the foreseeable future.

  6. Love Kirk and "Josh" B-U-T it should be Locked on Luka cuz Frankly:

    They're a better T-E-A-M
    They play way-y faster
    Their defense is fantastic
    Ball distribution is on point

    And,

Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Michael Jordan et al won nothing with the heliocentric, hero ball of Luka-ball slo-mo, creepy crawly Globetrotter stuff.

Wilt scored 100 pts in a game and still lost. He averaged 45 ppg on Bill Russell in 7 playoff appearances AND LOST EVERY ONE.

Now, with the youth, speed and passing ability of this unit defenses don't have time to set up. The Mavs legitimately go 11 deep when the injured centers get back. How-some-ever, their initial analysis is blatantly wrong. They didn't win on making more 3's cuz that's not their emphasis.

That was Luka's interest and emphasis…to be aesthetically pleasing while making trick no look passes accompanied by shots taken from the parking lot.

    Actually,

They won exactly how the Celtics beat Wilt Chamberlain's one man so-called teams and the one man, slo-mo, dipsey doo you-can't-stop-mememe Luka roadshow last year.

    Hustle
    Team passing
    Team defense
    Sharing the ball
    Crashing the boards

And 6 of their primary scorers excell via an array of mid-range shots: P.J., Dinwiddy, Naji, Kyrie, Exum and Max. What no one notices is that T-H-I-S style and team dominated during the "golden era" of NBA ball with the Magic Johnson Lakers, the Larry Legend Celtics, the Isaiah Thomas Pistons and the Jordan Bulls winning 14 titles in 20 years led by:

1.) Unselfish HOF talents that knew when to take over, how to involve others & make them better.
2.) Having length & size that can guard anyone interchangeably.

3.) and… T-H-I-S is the most important prerequisite in basketball…your super-duper star M-U-S-T get off the got damned ball.

The other 4 must not simply stand stock still waiting, watching, hoping basketball Billy passes the ball. At a championship level, this never wins cuz the opposing players and teams will be the best.

They'll allow your Wilt Chamberlain, Charles Barkley, Luka Doncík megaliths to hit 40, 50 or 60 and easily shut down the others cuz they N-E-V-E-R get the ball.

    Get it!
    Got it!!
    Good!!!

  7. Kirk is right about the PR of the mavs. If they just shut up and let the team be the PR there would be no problem. This team is hard not to root for right now. Go mavs
