Giddy is a fine player, i just dont see him as a star or anything. He's just nice. A first round pick could turn into anything, or be used in a trade to get a better player. Not sure management would make a better trade, but add a first round pick to the Zach trade and it could be a much better return.

The people saying they'd rather have a first round pick aren't thinking where OKC's pick would land.
That 1st Round draft pick wouldn't have been the Rockets/Clippers first OKC is owed. They would have traded their own first rounder. That pick is slotted as basically a second round pick.
The real question you have to ask yourself is would you rather have the 30th pick in the draft, or would you rather have Josh Giddey??

Yes, if you just say "a first round pick," that sounds great, but it is basically one of the last first round picks.
Also, just because a bunch of people say something, that doesn't make it true. Most NBA fans don't even really follow teams that closely to even have an educated opinion.
Now, if you say you want that pick to use as ammunition towards trading up a few spots, then, yes, this would be the draft to do it in. These first round picks are valued higher than most drafts, but still, I'm taking Giddey as a young, versatile ball-handler and a playmaker.

All it took to get him was a 30 years old defender averaging 6/3/3.

Giddey was only available 1 for 1 for caruso because the Thunder lost all leverage. If that was at the trade deadline the BULLS would have needed to throw a pick in. Giddey is way better than 90% of first rounders in year 4
Thunder benched Giddy last year in the post season.
