Max was the steal of this deal. If Dallas gets all its bigs healthy, a big IF, their length could really cause problems in the western conference playoffs for a lot of teams if the Mavericks make it that far.
Mavs were suooosed to get AD, Max, dalton, and two picks. They took dalton and one pick off. Max was always in the deal. Should have gotten AR, Dalton, all the picks LA had, Max, and AD. Nico isn’t a step ahead, he was groomed by Rob.
Exum was not Nico, that was Dennis Lindsay, the guy brought into keep Nico in check. Before last year he was terrible, remember Nico also gave away Brunson for NOTHING. That’s two mvp candidates to the two most important teams in the nba for a total of two players and 1 pick. With all respect for Luka. An amazing shooter. However, Mavs didn’t seem to be progressing until Kyrie, Gafford, Lively, and Washington got on board last season. That’s when Mavs made it to the playoffs. Luka deserves credit for keeping the Mavericks alive before the additions. But Luka this, without Luka, ect. Luka was a part of the team, but he wasn’t the team. It can be upsetting to replace a part, but the show must go on. I just hope Luka is happy and satisfied, for now.
Yes they took the Rockets behind the woodshed for 3 quarters. I've been telling other Mavs fans to remember that. They are built to have 2 bigs on the court for 30-36 minutes a night and we haven't seen that outside of those 3 quarters when they absolutely dominated. This quick switching defense (what they've been playing and winning with the last 6 games) is basically the second unit and they are winning with it. This defense is going to be FILTHY. If they can stay afloat and make the playoffs I don't see any team obviously better like the Celtics were in the finals
I’m a mavs fan from the city. Hated the traded but after i happened i said watch this work for the next 2-5 years. They wanted defense. Although Davis out We got a top 10 offense and defense player. Christie as well has turned out to be great with Dallas on both sides of the court. That’s what Dallas wanted.
We also been wanting a faster pace for years but Luka wouldn’t do it. Any time he was out you seen not only a faster pace but the ball is moving more.
If you remove emotion it’s a great trade if AD can come back and stay healthy. Remind you before his recent injury he’s played more games than Luka last season and this season. So as of recent he’s been healthy. Barely missed any games last year. Single digits
You will see other players get to show their talent. When the ball moves it motivates players. You can see increased energy from the team.
So give it some time. Nobody in the west I’m worried about lol. Especially when we get lively and Ad back.
