Boston Celtics’ defense: How they exploit opponents & why one threat stands out

The Celtics defense dominates against New York, and the big reason was because of Josh Hart. The Celtics exploit non-shooters on other teams and it fuels an elite defense when the Celtics are on.

Host John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal breaks down how the Celtics defense is working, using players like Kristaps Porzingis to dominate the court. He also explores the biggest threats in the playoffs, highlighting the Indiana Pacers’ unique style as a potential challenge. The episode dives into comparisons between the current Celtics and the legendary 1980s teams, offering insights into player matchups and team dynamics, Jayson Tatum’s MVP future, and maybe Jaylen Brown’s future elsewhere.

Tune in for an in-depth analysis and insider perspectives on the Boston Celtics’ journey.

  1. Thank you John. Glad theyโ€™re resting Jโ€™rue tomorrow. They really need to be careful with him going forward so that physically heโ€™s ready to rock & roll for the playoffs. Looking forward to Wednesday in Detroit. Crazy to think that the last time the Pistons won 7 in a row, Cade Cunningham was 13 yrs old๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜‚
    Have a great week Cโ€™s fans!โ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿ”’

  2. Joe's killer whale pod works. ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‹. Not worried about Cavs. C's broke their 15 game winning streak and are 2-1 over Cavs. OKC are good but young and inexperienced in playoffs. Denver?

  3. You forgot a very important piece in your position vs position matchup of thr 86 Cs vs this year… Jaylen Brown. Put him in and now your are talking Jaylen vs McHale; Kristaps vs. Parrish; Jrue/DWhite vs DJ/Ainge. A lot more competitive. I would give the 2024/25 Cs 3 of 5 position battle wins if not. Split between the two teams. And then you go Al vs. Bill Walton off the bench

  4. I have Indy, Memphis & Orlando as the problematic teams. Orlando & Memphis for similar reasons. Both have switchable Ds that could cause the Celtics problems. Indy for the reason you outlined.

  5. John I agree that the Pacers can be a challenge but hopefully this year we have a healthy KP to play in the playoffs.

  6. Here we go with the moving Jaylen brown talk again ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜‘wow!!! two segments on trading Jaylen.

  7. Also John I agree with you about the Pacers. They scared me last year the most too (and I know we swept them but like you said that was far from a sure thing and easily out most competitor series).

  8. John the pacers? Cmon brah m!! Hell nah ๐Ÿงน Iโ€™m more worried bout the bucks at 3/4

  9. The Pacers are the team that I also worry about. However, the 4the quarter collapse problem that they have works in Bostons favor. Even on a not so great shooting night the Celtics can close a game. They just need to keep it under 10.

I a.so see Memphis being problematic but I doubt we see them so itโ€™s really a non issue.

  10. I agree with just about all the comparisons with the 86 team, except Mchale better than KP. Mchale might be better in the offensive post, but all around, I think a 100% healthy KP is a better player.
