Oh gees what a bad take. Nostalgia keeps folks watching the game hoping to see something new & exciting. What's 'killing' the NBA? It isn't even what you WANT to argue about now. It stems from the early-mid 2000s, when the refs got caught cheating. Having mandates against Iverson. BETTING on games. That put the games into disrepute and TODAY they're even worse & likely got BETTER at betting on games and keeping it discreet. The officials really damaged (mine at least) interest. WHat's also hurting the league is a lack of real rivalries. Yeah 'y'all forget' about that. Bulls-Knicks. Pacers-Knicks. Blazers-Lakers. Kings-Lakers, etc. All that and I haven't even touched on the style of play today or guys like Paul George or Anthony Edwards that are vocal about not caring for the ASG. That's THEIR mouths, not guys from 40 years ago. Heck didn't even mention 'load management' and loads of other things you have today. Guys complain about 'having to play' 58 games. That has an impact – as a fan, if they don't want to bother, why should they bother paying to go?
So let's keep it 100. 'Nostalgia' is what it is and you'll never stop people from enjoying whatever era they like. In 20 years you'll maybe see people say the same stuff about the current era being better. I'll give you this – I DO think some over-romanticize the style of play. Specifically, too many players tried to 'be like Mike' but clearly weren't like Mike and had 1 dimensional games. But every era has its issues.
But I strongly disagree with the 'face of the league' stuff. Nobody IMHO embraced it more than James even if I don't care for everything he did – he owned it because he's tough enough to do it. And PLENTY of folks celebrate the talented new guys like Shai, Jokic, etc. You're kind of suggesting that the new guys don't have the balls & fortitude to do it. Which, ironically, would work in favor for the guys you think are overly nostalgic….even though a lot of players say they simply don't care, as they're getting paid 30+ million. So less blame on fans and maybe look more at the entire product.
I can see this because ye ogs shit on the newcomers the newcomers don’t care about the sport as much and then we have the media who just add gasoline to the fire with comparing players its really everyone’s fault 😂. Most of the time too comparisons usually just hating on the other persons opinion
He couldn't said that any better I grew up in that era and people don't wanna give up that era and yes who would be the face of the NBA they would get killed on every media out being compared to the 90’s Michael Jordan or even Kobe I had to learn to let it go this is a new era🤣🤣🤣my son told me that when we were clowning watching the game🤣🤣😂😂😂
It’s more of what the league has become as a whole and even LeBron has talked about it before, everyone runs iso ball or a moving screen to a lob inside. If that doesn’t work all they have is drive and kick to and open 3, defenses have gotten lazier, offensive rules have made it far easier for people to score and draw fouls, big men don’t even know how to play in the post whatsoever, it’s what the league is becoming and that’s basically a pro am team for 2k.
Dude shut up, basketball just felt more authentic and better as a whole in the 90s, almost every game was amazing, especially the playoffs, when the stars played
This generation of stars fumbled the bag. Lebron, Steph, KD, etc. inherited a thriving league with good ratings. Just like Kobe, AI, Shaq, etc inherited a thriving league from Jordan. You’re supposed to leave the game in a better place when it’s your turn to leave. Lebron did not do that. So now this generation of guys have all the money but they don’t want to compete. Everyone has a sneaker deal, everyone has endorsements, but they don’t want game is trash. Nobody plays hard. All star weekend is a joke. Lebrons group really dropped the ball and now guys like Channing Frye are trying to blame Jordan and Kobe who played in the most exciting and competitive eras in NBA history.
Viewer ship is down because league pass is expensive and you don’t even get all the games, you have to buy 3-4 different memberships and it’s not even clear on what games are available. They made watching games way too complicated.
Channing wouldn’t be saying that Kobe was still alive. Everybody taking shots since he isn’t here to defend himself. Also My. Frye your comments validate why people talk about and compare current players to former players. Former players wanted to be great, they wanted to be the face of the league. Currently players only care about their brand not being great or the greatest.
Thank you for this important message. I watched Magic, Bird, Jordan, etc., etc. Fine. It's a new Era with great players who need to be celebrated and appreciated.
We didnt forget any of the things he is talking about. Jordan retired after a 3-peat. Came back and did it again. Kobe was silly for doing it but was making a point when people complained he shot too much. The guys have rules that make it easier to score, rest, and get rich, and they still dont try. Stop it. It sucks because it sucks. The young people dont watch, and that has nothing to do with nostalgia.
This is cope. People don’t celebrate the players as much as they use to is because they lost all the attitude that came with playing ball, there isn’t a dominate force and the game isn’t as fun to watch when everyone is just jacking up threes all day.
What we haven’t forgotten is the fact that the players themselves are chasing the old heads greatness. They go get MJ number and expect That’s why I respected Kobe 24 representing his growth in the game.
idiots talk talk talk, the past are there to inspire the new generation MJ was created because of the past players Kobe, AI, wade, and many more was inspired by MJ, now Lebron produced these boring a55 generation.

KOBE #1
I just miss rivalries and drama, and storylines. Everyone friends with everybody now and some people like the Joker only play basketball as a hobby
Rules aren't the same because lebron flops to much 😂😂😂. Remember when the NBA had plays and all. Now it's street ball 😂😂😂
Basically he is just defending LeBron, because he is the only current player being compared to them
I can see this because ye ogs shit on the newcomers the newcomers don’t care about the sport as much and then we have the media who just add gasoline to the fire with comparing players its really everyone’s fault 😂. Most of the time too comparisons usually just hating on the other persons opinion
Yes! This needed to be said! A LOT of NBA fans are whiny, pessimistic, and hopelessly nostalgic.
Whole comment section is proving his point😂
He couldn't said that any better I grew up in that era and people don't wanna give up that era and yes who would be the face of the NBA they would get killed on every media out being compared to the 90’s Michael Jordan or even Kobe I had to learn to let it go this is a new era🤣🤣🤣my son told me that when we were clowning watching the game🤣🤣😂😂😂
This is some true coping right here.
SGA is lowkey on his way to being one of the greats
This dude is the perfect example of why people don’t wanna watch the NBA.
Jordan’s dad died and he retired and we using that against him?

Dude you should not talk😂 this era basketball is b***** and everybody knows it the ratings show it
Viewer ship is down because league pass is expensive and you don’t even get all the games, you have to buy 3-4 different memberships and it’s not even clear on what games are available. They made watching games way too complicated.
NBA is killing the nba!
I love how everyone is either missing the point and/or actively proving the point lmaoo
Losers will always trash talk about the true legends. Get a life!
Channing wouldn’t be saying that Kobe was still alive. Everybody taking shots since he isn’t here to defend himself. Also My. Fucks u talking about is this click, bait
You probably trash at hoops! Couldn't wear MJ or Kobe kicks! You would suck them off if you were face to face clown 🤡
What an idiotic take 😂😂😂
Thank you for this important message.
I watched Magic, Bird, Jordan, etc., etc.
Fine. It's a new Era with great players who need to be celebrated and appreciated.
Lol, only facts. Let the new cats play.
To many dam 3point shots
it wasn't even 30 years ago. your math ain't mathing
Nobody forgets that. Dump the gather step, bring back some level of defense, and see where the ratings go…
They built the league. And that mofo just wasn't any mofo. He was THAT mofo.
1000%

Exactly

Kobe wasn’t 40 years ago
Lame video
3 pointers are killing the game. And I don’t blame teams for winning that way either. It’s just tougher to digest the game as it currently stands.
idiots talk talk talk, the past are there to inspire the new generation MJ was created because of the past players Kobe, AI, wade, and many more was inspired by MJ, now Lebron produced these boring a55 generation.
You cant defeat the legends… accept that ..
He’s got a point
What is he talking about?!!
