Could be that they we worried about fan backlash if they opened it to everyone. Or, maybe, NBA wanted this to happen. They want their Lakers to be the center of attention at all times. I wonder if the ratings had something to do with this and if they have gone up since this trade or it's going to

I've never seen such a smear campaign, or as Reggie Miller said, character assassination. It's disgusting. Luka never complained about management not bringing better players, or hinting about leaving. They led their franchise to a WCF and a NBA finals (which are the best seasons in the history of the franchise barred 2006 and 2011), and they treat him like a criminal or a scrub…
I haven't seen any other teams complain about this. I think that's the most important clue to those of us without the real story.
I think the Mavs wanted a way to get to Vegas and the Owners collectively agreed that putting him on the Lakers would make the league the most money. This move means billions over the next decade. That's just my guess.

You get Max Christie, a 22 year old premier perimeter defender, Anthony Davis, a ten time all star and a top 5 two way player who’s worth 5 first round picks on his own and a first round pick. The Mavs also offloaded dead weight in Kleber and Morris. This idea that the deal was lopsided in favor of the Lakers is pure nonsense

Luka hasn’t won yet. You’re acting like AD is a scrub. Lakers barely beat the Mavs last night with no AD, Gafford and Lively. Mavs could easily beat them in a 7 game series in the playoffs. Both teams got what they wanted. Let’s see how this plays out.
