When will the podcasters admit the coach is the problem? This team has every bit of talent that Cleveland has. Cleveland stunk last year, got a great coach, now they're number 1. It is really that simple.
Our plan on offense is run an action and make a read, which ends usually ends up in the corner with CB or Westbrook. THE PROBLEM IS, that the opposition plan on defense is let them run their action and force the ball into corners to CB and Westbrook.
Jokic fought for low post position 2 or 3 times that last quarter and Jamal couldn't get him the ball. Do you know why? Because the team doesn't practice how to swing the ball to the wing to get Jokic easy post entry passes. And the fault of that is of course… the coach.
Pickett is higher value player than Westbrook…they can both get the ball to Jokic, but when Russ is on the floor there's 3 guys on Jokic and in the paint so scoring is impossible, whereas when Pickett is left open, he can hit his 3s…Pickett can't guard, well Westbrook only fouls or gets blown by, for every steal there's a lay up he gave up. And Pickett doesn't turn over the ball, there's 0 chance they actually play him in PO, but the rotation would be stronger. You never wish injury upon anybody, but if Russ gets injured Denver chances go up.
I’m a LeBron fan so no biases here, that championship gave Malone too much wiggle room. Only one chip out of this peak for Jokic is SOOOOOOO BAD
Lmfao both dline and Adam are delusional and like to suck Murray's dick, they want to blame Westbrook for early deficit yet it was Murray's sorry ass defense that kept giving up points after points whether it was from 2 pt or 3 pt..then Adam continues to make an idiot of himself and claiming in 4th with 1 minute left porter took a crazy 2 pt shots when it was Murray's sorry ass that took a crazy ass 3 pt shot🤡🤣
A moral victory podcast for a wire to wire loss against a team missing two starters..
Zeke not starting with AG Watson BOTH out was coaching malpractice and made literally ZERO sense especially with how he’s been playing recently! He & AG (+ TJ McConnell out and 2nd night of b2b short on a lot of 3s😏) huge reason Nuggs beat my Pacers!
Most FTA per game since 2019-20?
Embiid 10.8
Giannis 10.7
Luka 8.5
TRAE YOUNG 8.1
Butler 8.1
SGA 8.1
Zion 7.9
DAME 7.6
HARDEN 7.6
Banchero 7.3
AD 7.3
DeRozan 7.1
KD 6.5
Booker 6.4
Ja 6.4
Tatum 6.3
Fox 6.1
Randle 6.0
KAT 5.7
My 2 favorite players (outside of my Pacers) post MJ Hakeem in 90s
JOKIC & LeBRON only 5.6 FTA per game even though they’re hacked a ton in the paint! The fact they BOTH aren’t top5-10 FTApg AT WORST is EMBARRASSING especially vs guards above them & KD!
Cavs much tougher matchup for Nuggets if 100% healthy then Celtics imo.
Let Russ be Russ 🤣 on the bright side he's a min vet player. Not paying him 50 million like the lakers
This entire game came down to coaching to me, literally from before the game started until the end. D-Line was the only one to really touch on it and it’s a little unfortunate there wasn’t a segment dedicated to it.
Russ is not a part of this team’s future and he’s taking the starting spot from guys who potentially will be the future (Zeke). That is a general rationalization for why Russ shouldn’t start to begin with but it goes further to me. Zeke is coming off of a game where he started and the team looked DOMINANT in the win and how they played. I’m not saying Zeke is a future starter, but he should be a solid back up option and playing with Jokic helps his development.
The decision to start Russ AFTER that performance is mind boggling to me, ESPECIALLY when you’re playing a team with substantial size and wing depth that shoot a ton of threes. Zeke is made in a lab to defend this sort of team. So, to start, why are you going away from what worked in the previous game AND why are you now inserting a smaller player against a team that primarily wants to run their offense through their wings?
From there, this just had a negative trickle down effect and the team started to look more like what we have gotten used to this season as opposed to that dominance we saw in the Pistons game. Russ demands the ball in his hands a lot, I think that subconsciously made Murray passive in the first half. The Celtics knew exactly how to guard them with two non spacers out there in Braun and Russ, the latter who just bought into the Celtics scheme and fired them up as much as he could.
The other issue you notice with Russ playing so many minutes is that the team doesn’t seem to know what the hierarchy of their options is which stood out wildly at the end of the game where Murray and Russ are taking turns attacking and dribbling. Jokic wasn’t being fed enough and MPJ looks clueless as to where his shots are coming from. Russ demands the ball like a second or third option, not a fifth or fulcrum to get the ball moving. You end up with spots where Russ is spacing so the paint is collapsed OR he’s under the basket and he can’t catch these beautiful passes from Jokic for wide open dunks.
Separately, Malone has Strawther playing a million minutes all in one stretch while the team isn’t finding any success with him out there. Why are we doing this? Why are we forcing that issue with a young player when the moment Pickett comes in he is much more solid defensively and is a very low mistake player, one of the few positive +/- players on the team tonight (zeke too).
The pistons game was dominant to me because the team knew the shot hierarchy, the defense was very shored up from Zeke’s activity and size and foot speed and the rotation then limited Russ’s minutes and didn’t then require him to close because once you start him Malone isn’t then going to bench him with his pedigree.
Malone decided to get cute with the starters and rotation today for literally no reason and I think it had a compounding negative effect on the entire game. I personally don’t believe guys like Zeke and Pickett are going to be options for him in the post season, even though they have both proven they are excellent contributors. It was mentioned that Zeke is a foxhole guy on the show, but I can’t get there. Watson was a hyper valuable defensive player last season and Malone got tight in the Wolves series and decided most of the starters needed to play the entire second half. I’d be more shocked if that didn’t happen again this season than him going to late season jewels found at the back of the rotation.
Malone has his biases, he has players he coaches hard and other guys that seem to get quite a long rope. Murray and MPJ have both been treated very differently in their tenure here. We are now seeing that same thing with Strawther vs Pickett not to mention the endless bigs that collect dust on the bench and were rarely put into spots to succeed. Malone is good at some stuff but when it comes to the actual game I stratch my head a lot and wonder “how many of these games are won despite you and not because of you? How many of these players grow in spite of you and not because of your tough love? Why do some guys get a pass and others don’t?”
I just don’t think Malone is a guy that maximizes all of his guys or his team. I think he is a guy players and media like but his schemes, rotations and decision making game to game leaves a lot to be desired. The thing is, as long as we have Jokic we will never really know how true this stuff is because Jokic goes out there and does everything he can to make his team’s life easier. I just think todays game was lost before it even started with the starting lineup decision and then Malone just rolled out the same plan he always does and didn’t innovate or push any of the right buttons to help the team succeed.
Westbrook taking 15 shots per game, Mpj crumbles under softest touch, Nuggets looking like most predictable contender! long goodbye
That got damn Michael Porta Potty Jr.
This loss is on Booth and the front office! Get competent two way players and Jokic will get you a title. Instead Booth gets one way players who aren’t even good at what they are doing. This franchise is a joke as long as they allow booth to be the GM.
Before I say anything I am not hating on a guy, I think he seems like a good person and I wish him all the best, BUT we are not winning another chip with MPJ.
I like him as a guy, he seems like a good character, but I hate his game. His high is cute, his low is atrocious his average is bad. What bothers me the most is his clumsiness, he has no bag and he is such a momentum killer. Trade him for draft picks honestly. PWAT in the starting lineup instead of MPJ would be better at this point.
That's pure bs Adam. Of course its biased.
MPJ is a disaster. He's horrible against good teams.
Well, we soo back aren't we guys? SMH 😆 and for final touch, here comes the Russ 😭, alongside Jabum, mpj and BIG mike Malone 🤣🥲😘
And yes, LOVE to see how one organization can and did ruined their own franchise after 1 🏆, priceless and mind-blowing but i loveee it more and more i swear 🥲😬
Nuggets in trouble… no porzingus and jrue and they still dominated?
Malone is one of the worst coach i have ever seen. Without Jokic he is not NBA coach.
Getting exposed
Important game/momento = MPJ Stinker. Iconic duo
Is malone not making any adjustment so he can surprise everyone in the playoffs?
Dude, is this team ever going to beat a top seeded contender again this season?!?! Omg every week it’s the same thing – win 2, 3, 4 in a row against Pacers, Blazers and Pelicans, then lose to the Bucks, beat the Hornets, Jazz and Pelicans again, then lose to the Celtics. It’s starting to feel like this seasons team ain’t got it, and that makes me absolutely livid to think that another prime Jokic year may not end in a deep meaningful playoff run. I’m pissed! It’s not the players, dammit! It’s coaching and management.🤬😡🤬😡
