One thing I don't understand about all this is that Steph Curry doesn't even leave the league in a three-point shooting percentage. Whoever leads the league in three-point shooting percentage, it would mix sense for that person to be attempting the most 3. Some people shoot threes even better than Steph. Why can't they do what stuff does?
Steph is obviously really good at shooting threes, but he doesn't lead the league in 3-point shooting percentage. So some people are better than Steph at the thing that makes Steph great. If the player with the highest three-point shooting percentage took as many threes as Steph does, they would make more than Steph does.
Sometimesnchange is NOT good…..i record NBA games amd fast forward through them these days. I cant watch an entire game, the officiatiing is sus and all rhe three point shooting is boring especially when both teams are havong an off night.
The game has changes 60 years ago they could not dunk in the game, baseball has changed, and no one is complaining, they are getting ready to use robots for the pitching zone,
I think there are multiple factors contributing to "ruining" the NBA today.
1. Rules (lack of physicality and hand-checking of earlier eras, and yes i still like zone defense to be used today) 2. Trends from past eras. Small-ball wasn't new. There was the Run TMC and the Mavericks led by Don Nelson, and the Mike D'Antoni Suns and Rockets. There will always be experimentation. 3. Analytics. When people saw the value of three-point shot. Why take a long shot that will only award you the same points if you score closer? Might as well practice hitting slightly longer shots for that extra point. 4. Evolution. Nothing stays the same for a long time. Look at the NBA during its inception: centers ruled the league until Jordan proved that wings can be dominant. Iverson proved that you just because you're short, you're limited to pass the ball as a traditional point guard. And now, look at the 3-point revolution. Even elite wings and bigs have learned to space the floor and bend defenses so much by shooting an elite clip from downtown. Bigs today are as skilled as guards of past eras. Guys like Wemby, Jokic, Giannis, Chet. They can shoot like wings and handle and pass like guards. Evolution.
There’s nothing wrong with shooting like Steph, you just gotta run like Steph and practice like Steph. He didn’t suddenly learn to shoot, he spent years doing tedious exercises in every shooting position. His stamina is amongst the best in the NBA, he worked on that as well for years. You can’t replicate the 1% until you done the same 99% of work.
Understand this, 3 point shooting or shooting in general has been a part of the game since inception…There have always been great shooters, so what Steph is doing isn’t new the difference is He’s soo good at it it’s become the anomaly- Steph made the world realize how under utilized long range shooting was in the sport, and what can happen when a proper baller gets consistent , precise and effective with long range shooting- It’s like a sniper, they’re the most dangerous on the battlefield field cos before You blink ya dead 💀
I’m old enough to remember when Jordan was a rookie and came up on the scene … there were even Gatorade commercials about it … everyone wanna ‘be like Mike’ … problem was, there was only ONE Mike! And that was Michael EFFEN Jordan! You had all these guards trying to replicate Jordan’s game, putting up numbers with lousy shooting percentages, their teams with losing records, trying to play ‘hero ball’ 🏀, all because Jordan was able to do it successfully … they blamed ‘hero ball’ 🏀 on Jordan, 25 years later same thing happening with Curry 👀, he’s ruining the league cus all these players wanna shoot threes … there is only ONE Steph Curry ! Let’s appreciate these generational players, they don’t come around too often, not criticize or hate on them for changing the game …

It's not just the 3's. Steph's movements off the ball is one thing others can't easily imitate.
Easy to get the old game back – move out the 3 pt line another 2-3 feet.
