The Trail Blazers Are Better than the Bad Teams. How Good Can This Group Be?

The Trail Blazers are not a bad basketball team. How good they are is still an open question but certainly they are a tier above the truly lottery cellar dwellers. So how does Portland move forward with a competitive young core?

  1. Can we not build like the Cavs?
    .
They traded for their #1 option when the had a bunch of solid players but no superstar
    .
We have the assets don’t we?

  2. That inbounds TO by Camara was a set called by CB and it is absolute crap. He tried to get a cheap one and it backfired. That set is just terrible to begin with and I don't know why he uses it.

  3. One draft lottery pick and at least one trade which brings a player or another draft pick adds TWO more good players to eight young BETTER THAN THE BAD TEAMS, which can make us better than the play-in teams next year !

  4. 15:52 I think someone people are missing Deni can go right AND middle. Just not left. He does always go right anymore. That might be something that he worked on that now gives him the advantage until he learns how to go left to. So i just disagree with people saying he only goes right. He just doesn't go left.

  5. Deni, Camara, Sharp, Scoot, and clingian are a great foundation. I think they should continue to build on this and maybe consider trading for a star. After this season, players will become available for the Blazers to get.

  6. "If you draft 9th or 10th, you're highly unlikely to get a superstar… Over the recent history of the league, this is not where the superstars come from."

    google 2024-25 NBA MVP favorites
    1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – drafted 13th
    2. Nikola Jokić – drafted 41st
    3. Giannis Antetokounmpo – drafted 15th

7 of the last 10 MVP titles were given to players who were drafted out of the top 5. 5 of them went to players who were drafted out of the top 10.
In the last All Star game, 5 of the 10 starters were drafted out of the top 10 (SGA, Jokić, Giannis, Jalen Brunson and Donovan Mitchell).

  7. I’m a believer in this team and have been for quite a while. If we see the Shaedon from a couple games ago more consistently and Scoot, Clingan, Avdija and Toumani and our 2025 draft pick improve, this team can compete with anyone.

  8. when everyone plays well they can win every team. but we lack one great component, one Allstar to be able to win when Ant and sharp are 35% with 40 shots…

  9. What the team has going for it is – it has discovered its soul, epitomized by Deni and Tou. Hardnosed. Reminds me a little bit of (history alert!) the Drexler teams, where beyond the flash, the soul of those teams was the forward combo of Jerome Kersey and Buck Williams, who defensively were as good as any forward combo in the game.

  10. deni is so good at drives he have the best point per position in the all league its insane why dont keep giving him the ball in the clutch and let him drive

  11. simons continues to be a basketball terrorist for the Portland TrailBlazers. Something is very fishy I tell you…..only 2 ppl in the entire NBA are enamored with rhis player and it's joe and schmoe bil.

  12. I know the big concern is them not getting an amazing draft pick but I think people underestimate just how important it is for young teams to learn how to win. Create good habits. You can't just expect one player to turn it all around for you. You gotta make it happen with what you have.

  13. It is worth noting the Cavs have barely had to play without Mitchell. 3 point with vs Detroit, 6 point win vs Toronto, and 14 vs Hornets

  14. About 10 teams started this season trying to not win, at the end of the season it’ll be about 12 teams. I want to see how Blazers stand up to teams fighting for 6 seeds or higher. To win a playoff series you basically have to be a 5 or 6 seed to have a legit chance. All that being said, I’m happy to watch a competitive team that is developing like this.

  15. Even if we believe your premise, JG and Rob need to be traded to give the young guys more room and try to add to the young core, we need a mobile 6’10” or so 4/5 that can come off the bench, like Reath but he doesn’t have enough defense or rebounding and Jabari is too small
