The Cavaliers are the comeback kids, Donovan Mitchell owns the Celtics & DG is more clutch than you
The Cleveland Cavaliers did it again.
Just 48 hours after erasing a 22-point deficit against the Celtics, the Cavs came back from 18 down against the Portland Trail Blazers to secure its 50th win of the season.
Donovan Mitchell continues to put up insane numbers against the Celtics this year, becoming the first player to score at this rate against Boston since LeBron James.
Plus, McNuggets and Bob Schmidt from FearTheFro Pod compare Darius Garland’s clutch resume to some of the other top players in the league.
De’Andre Hunter scored 32 points and made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 30 seconds left in overtime as the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied for a 133-129 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday to extend their winning streak to 10 and become the first NBA team with 50 victories this season.
The Cavs were down 18 in the third quarter before fighting back to win for the 14th time in 15 games. They did it without All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, who got some planned rest.
Ty Jerome added 25 points and Evan Mobley 20 for Cleveland, which was coming off an emotional win on Friday at Boston during which it erased a 22-point deficit.
Portland’s Deni Avdija had 30 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for his first career triple-double. Anfernee Simons added 27 points.
After Simons’ 3-pointer with 44 seconds to go in OT put the Blazers ahead 129-128, Hunter, who was acquired by Cleveland at the trade deadline, drained his biggest shot since joining the Cavs.
Avdija missed a 3-pointer with 6 seconds left and Hunter made two free throws as the Cavs improved 28-4 at home.
Takeaways
Blazers: They gave the NBA’s top team all it could handle before fading down the stretch. Still, it was a positive performance.
Cavaliers: With a demanding schedule in March — 16 games, 29 days — coach Kenny Atkinson said the team will be strategic about making sure players get rest as the playoffs approach.
Key moment
With Portland up two in OT, Cavs guard Darius Garland, who was just 4 of 16 from the field, hustled back to deflect a long pass that could have been an easy layup.
Key stat
Cleveland has three double-digit winning streaks this season. The Cavs opened 15-0 and won 12 in a row from Dec. 13 to Jan. 9.

Bob needs to be on YouTube more often – the FearTheFro is fun and loose Pod – but Bob is a legit insightful and thoughtful Cavs commentator
Does J Allen need to be re-integrated in the system again. Not sure but he looks a bit lost lately.
Nick Gilbert would've loved that game
I can see why Tatum didn't get many minutes in the Olympics
Is Donovan the new 'Boston Strangler'? Shout out to the brilliance that was Andrew Toney, also a 6'3" shooting guard.
Mcnuggets puling ppl from the cavs verse for these are awesome
I really want to see Jarred Allen do a dribble dribble step back three
Comeback "kids"? Kids? Smh
Wilt basically play 2 seasons against Boston
Was that our first OT game of the season?
Yay Bob, great stuff guys! I'm still amazed by the passing on the Cavs. Sometimes it looks like the Harlem Globetrotters and the other team is intentionally setting up a cool play for the Cavs to pass around for an oop or a trick shot.
Mcnuggets goated
No lead is safe with this team
Rick Vaughn!
We were playing 8 on 5 all night the refs might as well been wearing portland jersey i have no problem with women referring but that was insane 70 fouls shots on 35 calls not to mention the techs having 2 women referring that foul call on strus with 1.1 left and he didnt even touch Simmons smh
Bob you nerd. Love it
They’re going to create a 7th man of the year award for either Ty Jerome or DeAndre Hunter. Go ahead and pick which one you want 6th and 7th🏀😛
Love the success of the Cavs. A little bored with the three point contest that the NBA has turned into.
THE CAVS HAS ONLY LOST TO 7 TEAMS THIS SEASON! TWICE TO CELTICS/HAWKS/ROCKETS! ONCE TO HEAT/PACERS/OKC/76ERS! EXTRAORDINARY!
18-4! WITH 22 GAMES LEFT! NO.1 SEED CAVS! #LETEMKNOW!
SPIDA PUT HOUSER IN WEBBING ALL GAME!
