I will be discussing the latest news and rumors surrounding the Toronto Raptors. News came out the Toronto Raptors will look to trade RJ Barrett in the offseason and have discussed him in trade talks with the Pelicans for Brandon Ingram! The Raptors are also one of four teams being linked to LaMelo Ball, who could be traded this offseason.

If we get LaMelo, then we don't need Quickley. Both play the point guard position and can't coexist as starters. I rather trade Quikley & Dick over RJ. RJ can play Shooting guard.

Raptors aren’t trading RJ just to “get off his contract” or because they “don’t want to pay his next contract”. Only way they trade RJ is if they attach picks to get a big upgrade. If it comes to it they will pay RJ. He is a 24 yr old that is improving day by day as a Raptor

Stop with this nonsense. It was either RJ or a first round pick for BI and they decided to keep RJ. Why would they trade a first to trade RJ in the offseason. Also getting BI to extend at that number keeps them under the luxury tax . The question you should be asking is if they are going to keep Dick or Ochai depending on who they draft.

Let’s not forget the luxury tax goes up every year and right now they are under. Also Jakob contract is up before RJ. Will Jakob extend for less at 30🤔 or do you have to trade him 🤔. Another factor is if they draft Khaman, which all projections are looking that way that means we have our centre for the future. Jakob becomes expendable or less dependable

"league sources say" hahaha – this is a (slow news day) story breaking weeks after the trade deadline? ..IF the rumor is even relatively correct, it probably went like this … RJ's name was mentioned as a bigger package deal, Raps probably trying to get the likes of Murphy or Jones or even a high #1 along with BI – it wouldn't have been a 1 for 1 knowing MU's work.

I like RJ but it’s true he doesn’t fit. The raptors already decided to trade him when they got Ingram. It’s that easy. RJ Scottie and Ingram play the same spots on the floor. So together they will limit what each other are capable of. They won’t reach their true ceilings. out of all three rj is by far the worst defender. Has the shortest wingspan, and he really struggles in the half court.
Jakobe can literally take his spot and he’s making a fraction of the money. The new cba made moves like this a must. Masai has no choice. Someone has to go.

Lamelo Ball is often injured and we already have that potentially with BI. IQ + 1 first plus 2 seconds = Lamelo Ball. Only if you get Kasparas in draft since he could be a backstop to Lamelo injuries while KJ develops. That does not mean they won’t still trade RJ? Maybe they have him lead bench after starting and see if he will take current money until BI up and FO can decide then.
Raptors most likely can’t afford to trade RJ with half the roster it seems on the Raptors is injury prone scotty and Brendan Ingram will need RJ to fill there positions at the 3 Maybe some 4 when they get injured next season and they probably will even though I’ve always seen RJ as a two or three it never hurts to have good players that can play multiple positions in the starting lineup
Same situation if we trade for Joel Embiid, who’s only played 50% of his total career games. Jacob Can’t be in that deal. It would have to be Chris Boucher and quickly probably. As you need yak to play when Joel is down which he probably will be down.
Putting the ball in the big fours hands would eliminate the need for a traditional point guard like quickly and sliding Grady dick to the two for his three-point shooting could be possible. Feel free to disagree

If the idea is to move RJ in order to make room at SG for Gradey, then trading for Lamelo makes 0 sense unless its Lamelo and bench pieces for RJ and Quickly…unless if they're moving Quickly to the bench. However, I could see RJ and Jakob going out this summer to bring in a stretch 5. Then start Quickly at PG, Gradey at SG, Ingram at PF, Scottie at SF, and whoever the new 5 ends up being. But no will know until something happens, if anything happens.
If they go for LaMelo, how many picks would be worth it? If Charlotte wants more than 2 I don’t think they should do it. The Raps only have their own firsts to trade and the ‘26 and ‘27 picks could be in the lottery or at the very least top 20. If they had some late first rounders left from other trades they could get away with it but I don’t think LaMelo’s track record warrants more than two Raptors picks.
