I was watching 1080 The Fan right before this and they said something that gave me kind of an “aha moment”. That there is a difference between building a team that is exciting to watch and will put butts in seats/$$ in the organizations pockets but clearly isn’t a contender and building a team that is obviously ring/banner-winning material. It doesn’t help that the front office is so tight-lipped but I wonder if they might be doing that here? As someone much more in the know, Mr Host, I’m curious as to your views?

Half of our next 20 games are against top tier teams! We would have to win 14 to 16 of those 20 games! I do give this team a shot at it I have a lot of faith in these young men. I love they are growing up right before my eyes.

I think we don't put enough importance on player development and creating an environment for players to succeed. That maybe just as important as drafting well. The draft is a crap shot at best. Even a high pick isn't a guarantee of success and getting a mid level pick is not a guarantee of failure. You don't know where the star players are going to come from. None of the top MVP candidates were top 10 picks. SGA 11, Giannis 15, Jokic 41st. So I say win, every team should want to win and if fans feel conflicted about winning then something is fundamentally wrong with the sport. That said if we get Cooper Flag I'd be thrilled.
The next five games will determine if they can be in the play-in ! Boston okc detroit golden state knicks. These next 5 games are the first round of the playoffs for the trailblazers. That's a tough schedule right there. I think they can pull it off.
