Trail Blazers Lose Shootout in Boston | Jabari Walker’s Career Night Not Enough to Beat the Celtics

A shootout in Boston, sheesh. 84 combine points from Payton Pritchard and Derrick White pushed the shorthanded Celtics past the Trail Blazers, who stayed in the game behind strong nights from Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe and career-best shooting display from Jabari Walker.

  1. Terry Porter, Arvydas Sabonis, both last picks in 1rst rd . Jerome Kersey, Kevin Duckworth, Cliff Robinson, Jerami Grant, Toumani Camara, 2nd rd. Ime Udoka undrafted. Clyde Drexler, middle of the first round. Buck Williams for Sam Bowie trade. That's the way a small market team can build a winner. Portland usually screws up the high draft picks, no matter who the GM is, so tanking isn't the best option- historically.

  2. I'm still not convinced that Scoot is going to be a good floor general, he consistently gets caught under the hoop with nowhere to go and I saw 2 or three passes for potential alley opps that were not in sync with the other player and he still looses the ball via lazy passes. His shooting has definitely imporoved but I'm not seeing ennough improvement in other areas.

  3. Portland successful high draft picks: Bill Walton, #1, 3x chips., Maurice Lucas and Moses Malone, perennial all-stars. F-ups: Larue Martin, Greg Oden, Sam Bowie(his rookie season in Portland was really good though).

  4. I remember a game when TP set a 3pt record. Could have been the 7-7 in '92. I recall they came from behind, fueled by TP's 3s, to win it.

  5. A few less turnovers in the Cleveland game and they would have won that one. In the third quarter Boston took off after we got frustrated from non-calls. The focus will come with experience in those tough games.
And when a team shooting near 50% from the 3-point line, well ya know.
Happy to see Pritchard do well.
