Nikola Jokic makes STATEMENT with big win over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander | Nuggets-Thunder reaction

Jason breaks down the Denver Nuggets bouncing back with a big win over the Oklahoma City Thunder including Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray’s chemistry, Russell Westbrook’s shotmaking, and the adjustment they made after Jalen Williams left with an injury. Then he discusses the bright future of the Atlanta Hawks behind improving role players such as Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher, and why they don’t need to trade Trae Young. Finally he addresses the Los Angeles Lakers’ ugly loss to the Brooklyn Nets, JJ Redick ripping his team, and why he’s not worried about it long term because of Luka Doncic’s shot making ability alongside LeBron James.

  1. Another way to look at it; last year with a healthy Jamal Murray the Nuggets likely win back to back titles. The roster is just better this year than last year and Jamal Murray is healthy. If Gordon can be healthy for the playoffs, I don’t see any reason they can’t win.

  2. MAILBAG:
Hi Jason, given the predictable Philly/Phoenix implosions have dominated the media headlines, I feel that not enough attention has been paid to how big a disappointment Orlando's season has been. Injuries have certainty played a role in this but I'm struggling to understand how they stayed afloat with Paolo/Franz being out, yet without Suggs they look like a lottery team. I also think their front office has largely evaded scrutiny for their abysmal drafting/FA signings since Paolo – I'm not sold on Anthony Black, Jett Howard or Tristan De Silva & the KCP contract is now a negative asset given how he's performed. It seems clear that once again a lack of shooting and aggregate ball-handling/initiation is suffocating the offense & is taking a toll on Paolo/Franz to create everything for themselves & their teammates.
If you were their GM this offseason, what sort of moves would you implement to get this team back on track?? Thanks as always for your content

  3. Lakers “Best team in the league the last two months” With all due respect maybe “one of the best teams the last two months.”

  4. The problem for predicting playoffs performance is that success against a team in the regular season simply doesn't correlate to beating them in the playoffs. Just ask the Phoenix Suns last year who felt great about their matchup against the TImberwolves based on beating them in the regular season. Got swept. Nuggets were not great in their championship season, but turned on their defense in the playoffs. Can they do that this year? Probably. We'll see.

  5. If voters don't give a f… about theirs reputation then give it MVP SGA! Average triple double almost beat tim USA on Olympics games that season Nikola have

  6. Love ur content Jason, how do u see Kuminga fitting with this team? I am a huge Kuminga fan so obviously I want to see him succeed . Is he a ceiling raiser for this team ? Thanks a lot for the content

  7. If Jokic has to put up those kind of numbers for the Nuggets to win, they are in Trouble. Playoffs not sustainable

  8. OKC has 6 players in the top 71 in BPM. The nuggets have 1, and that’s Jokic. OKC clearly has the better supporting cast so team record shouldn’t be relevant in this case because MVP isn’t a team award. And to be fair the nuggets are the 2nd seed in the west so Jokic’s play is leading to winning games. Jokic leads in three of the four main statistics when evaluating a players impact on a team. He leads the league in BPM, Value over Replacement, and PER. He is the clear cut MVP this season and is putting up a historical season. All you fucks saying Shai should be MVP are just ignoring the facts and are as dumb as the media trying to push Shai. This will be the biggest robbery if Jokic doesn’t win it this year.

  9. Mailbag: Did you see/hear about Mark Daigneault having Dillon Jones live at the scorer's table ready to check in but never actually checking in to supposedly keep Jokic from quickly inbounding the ball? Is this a thing? Seems bush league af & glad he got a delay of game for it. I've not seen anything like this and would like to hear your thoughts.

  10. Stop falling for the schtick of denvers defense. They are like 6th in 2nd half's. When they put in effort they are fine. They are just trying to get through the season.

  11. Just me or did I lose count on how many times that ok was missing a player after half the game was mentioned and only two times if that did I hear nuggets missed Aaron Gordon

  12. SGA is great(IMAGINE HIM AND JOKIĆ TOGETHER🤩 THEY WOULD DESTROY THE LEAGUE) BUT THERE IS ONLY 1 REAL MVP, Nikola THE ONE AND ONLY REAL MVP Jokić 💯

  13. They have decided before the season started Joker not winning again no matter what he does this is a disgrace its a individual award

  14. Jalen William getting hurt was on him. Not playing football. MVP race feels like we already gave it to a free throw merchant Embiid. Jokic all the way. Not close if you are being real.

  15. This was Jokic's 3rd game in 4 nights, he's on a bad ankle and his elbow was messed up after the incident Sunday. He still managed to over 2 games avg 30, double dig rebounds, and nearly 10 assts (if anyone could have made a shot Sunday).

That M game was an MVP game. SGA is great, but they can run 10 guys 10 min a night. Jokic had played half the season with no Gordon and the only big man playing being Zeke Naji…and he's still top 5 in points, boards, asst, and steals and has this very weak team in 2nd.

SGA would deserve the MVP in most any season but Jokic is being historical this season.

  16. I still want to know how SGA avgs 2 more FT a game than Jokic when Jokic looks like a WWE designated loser at the end of each game. I mean, SGA does a great job of getting calls on his drives, but a big man with the ball 40% of the time gets fewer calls? Only MVP I've seen not get calls.

  17. I'd argue that Sunday's game didn't make either guy look like an MVP. SGA would have doomed OKC if it weren't for the fact Denver couldn't rebound once Gordon was gone. Jokic was clearly hurt in the elbow by the 1st qtr and played on Friday while SGA sat (totally
Right thing to do since up by 11). So for me, Sunday and Monday didn't change things much…SGA is having a great season while Jokić is historical this season.

  18. Final note on Denver in playoffs: it's all about health. Malone dialed up defense in 2023 for playoffs and will be better if Gordon and Watson are healthy for defense. It will help if Strawther is healthy too. So, health will matter more for Denver than any other team in the west. Still think they aren't the favorite from the West, but the playoffs are always weird.

  19. Y’all Denver fans are annoying as hell. Every video anyone puts out y’all are bitching about Jokić not being the favorite to win the mvp. The best player in the league doesn’t win the award every year don’t matter if it isn’t fair it doesn’t happen so stop complaining. Jordan and Lebron would have way more mvps then they do if they did

  20. If proper fouls were called in the 1st matchup chet leaves with 6 and jokic smokes the thunder.

Nuggets beat thunder easy in the playoffs.
