Joe Mazzulla on Thunder’s Free Throw Attempts: “You have to match the level of physicality”

BOSTON – The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Boston Celtics 118-112 on Wednesday night. Joe Mazzulla addressed the free throw disparity, with OKC attempting 35 free throws compared to Boston’s 12, saying, “You have to match the level of physicality… There is a level of physicality you have to play with, and you also have to do your best to defend without fouling.”

  1. Soooooooo shooting 20 of 63 from 3 had NOTHING to do with it then Joe Mazzulla? But I DIGRESS… Carry On…

  2. i think Joe covered up that point about living on the free throw line: SGA alone took as many FTs as the entire Celtics team. OKC is not that fantastic at D; they foul as much as any good team and the refs refused to call them, a bias that will disappear in the playoffs.
the problem was JB was off his game, so was Pritchard (missed several wide open shots), and that wasn't about the OFC defense. neither of them were good today. a lot of could haves, just not enough determination to make things happen.

  3. lol this dude can’t coach 63 threes lol why is the ball in Derrick white and Brown hands let them be off ball players let Tatum score or make the decisions Sam and Payton need to wake up lol

  4. Things of note
-60 threes is insane. That isn't a championship winning recipe. See the Harden Rockets. Take 3's sure, but keep it in reason
-OKC had a LOT of FT's, but this was still a winnable game, bad execution down the end of the 4th. Also when you take 60 3's you aren't getting to the paint, which means less free throws
-JB was abysmal but that will not likely happen for multiple games, especially without Ramadan
-KP absolutely would have added much needed presence in the paint, and opened up the offense
-Tatum foul baiting in the last 2 minutes (When he traveled) was a crucial momentum shift, when he should have been moving the ball
-OKC is the real deal and as long as they can not wilt in the playoffs, they will be a force to be reckoned with

  5. Something needs to be adjusted. This is concerning. People now doubting if Celtics can repeat the championship this year.

  6. Joe Mazzulla another no adjustments in 2nd half, too much THREES DAMN & Payton Pritchard mismatch to depend Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

  7. When your best strategy to stopping a team is hoping they miss, your not really winning. All joe is doing is taking the emotion out of shooting. That's why they taking so many 3s, They have the best shooters in the league, and and the defense to make up for when they are off. The celtics are getting what they want almost every night. 20 out of 63 is a scary stat. Not a bad one, and yes obviously there's things that don't go right. But they've worked on the same things religiously for a season straight, no matter the outcomes. And yall are thinking it's never gonna pay off, It's just a stepping stone.

  8. ……..OOOOOOOPS……..SWEPT…….NOT A………GUARANTEED…….. SMACK DOWN……….NOT IN……………….CLEVELAND………….

  9. You have to admit that the whistle was one sided this game. Yes Boston played poorly and should’ve attacked the basket more. But why does SGA get the superstar calls and Tatum does not. I don’t get it at all. If you’re gonna call it one way call it the other or just let them play
