It's quite interesting that the Lakers are currently in a similar situation to what the Mavs were in a month ago when everyone was making fun of them and saying how poorly Dallas played just because they dont have Luka anymore. But no one mentioned that during all those losses, not only was Luka out, but also six other key players were injured (Davis, Gafford, PJ, Lively, Naji, Exum). And yet, they still managed to beat teams like HOU, GSW, and MIA, while the Lakers, with players like Luka, Reaves, Knecht, Dorian, and Vanderbilt, couldn't even beat the Nets last night., but tonight without Luka almost beat Denver. The problem with Luka, even in Dallas, was that he had great performances, was on fire, and played at his slow pace, while the rest of the team was cold and out of rhythm and didn’t get enough touches on the ball.
I also don’t understand why everyone is so convinced that the Luka-AD trade is cursed only for Dallas. After all, both teams played a dirty game—the Dallas front office and the Lakers. Just like people say that Dallas got rid of Luka in a bad way, the same could be said for Davis. Because of this, I have a feeling that neither of these two teams will win a title in the next five years, and injuries will continue to haunt them.
