He might be top 5 big men ever, yet he's a worse rim protector than anyone of the top 10 big men. Can't PJ Hall, Hunter Tyson, and Westbrook put together a bench that can get 35points on 42% efficiency across 20 minutes…Joker has no problem averaging a 20 point lead by the 3rd quarter and handing it over to a bench instead of an anchor. Even against Lakers, Nuggets put up a better shooting efficiency even with a bench shooting worse than the Lakers bench.
If you watch the game Jokic is killing them on defense, yes I know he's "5th in steals" that's 0.6 away from being 50th in steals btw. Nevertheless, it's not about that. Those 1.8 steals (rounded up to two possessions he saves) is NOTHING compared to the baskets he gives up because he's a horrible rim protector, bad off the pick and roll and can't close out to a 3pt shooter in time and when he does they easily blow by him because he's slow footed. He's an INCREDIBLE OFFENSIVE TALENT, one of the best I ever seen, but on defense he gives up just as many assists to the other team on the other end – if you're actually watching the game.
