It is DISINGENIOUS to compare this year’s Cleveland Cavaliers team to the 2014/2015 Atlanta Hawks

The Cleveland Cavaliers are beating teams this season at a historic rate.

The Cavs are on pace to reach 70 regular season wins. Only 2 teams in NBA history have ever done that.

No disrespect to the 2014/2015 Atlanta Hawks, but these two teams don’t belong in the same bucket, at least for now.

All-Star Darius Garland scored 18 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and the NBA-leading Cleveland Cavaliers rallied for a 109-104 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night, matching the longest winning streak in franchise history at 15 games.

Jarrett Allen had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Evan Mobley had 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists for Cleveland, which also began this season with a 15-game win streak. The Cavaliers trailed by 18 points in the third quarter.

Cleveland is 55-10 — tying the fifth-best start in NBA history — and owns the best home record in the league at 30-4. All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell (left groin soreness), forward De’Andre Hunter (illness) and guard Ty Jerome (rest) didn’t dress for the game.

Cam Thomas scored 27 points, Cameron Johnson had 17 points and Ziaire Williams added 14 before fouling out for Brooklyn. The Nets dropped five games behind Chicago for the final play-in tournament spot in the East.

Takeaways

Nets: Point guard D’Angelo Russell, who logged 29 minutes Monday in a 111-108 win over the Lakers, sat out the second half of the back-to-back set for right ankle injury management.

Cavaliers: Coach Kenny Atkinson’s club hasn’t lost since Feb. 4, when it was beaten by Boston 112-105 at Rocket Arena. Its other home losses were to Atlanta, Houston and Indiana.

  1. they are compared solely based on the gaps of having real contenders in between. in reality the 2015/16 cavs would mop the floor with the team currently assembled? why? experience. the 15/16 cavs were stocked with vets who have been through the trenches whereas the current group are learning together. in the long run.. this incarnation will learn to win together as they have learned to lose together to this point (previous years playoffs). maybe in 5 years' time we will see a title or two because they were built the right way vs. the 15/16 team which was assembled to win immediately.

  2. Searching 2015 hawks and this was recommended…..noping out as soon as the big goofy chicken swinger pops up in your face.
Why are your people so obsessed with sports, yet cant play sports at all?

  3. If this team reminds me of any other team it's the spurs team that beat LeBron and the Heat in the finals and that's because the ball movement and everyone being a star in their role but the spurs didn't have the star power the Cavs do but if their is a comp to any team it would be that 1 and I think if the Hawks didn't play against a top 2 all-time great player they go to the finals but I do believe this Cavs team would have beat the Bron,Ky,Love Cavs yep I said it and I might be biased but I think this Cavs team would knock the 2016 warriors off as well I think if kawhi didn't get hurt that warriors team wouldn't have made it to the finals that year or the first year with KD because Zaza took kawhi out

  4. The hawks are a great example of a team greater than the sum of their parts. When Korver got hurt in the playoffs everything fell apart, had he been healthy it might’ve been a more competitive series given the Cavs injuries
