Just my thoughts I don’t think blazers care about 1st pick this years draft going to use it with Grant to get a Jabari smith jr type player..
I understand the traditional lottery system and really like the new "Tank Points" system. I think the way to keep teams competitive while not giving teams the ability to manipulate the system is by implementing both systems and deciding which one will be used on draft night.

Love the points idea, to further the argument I’d be curious about the side by side data for last year to see the difference, heck let’s see what the last 5 or 10 years would have looked like. I’m intrigued, this seems like it can be a really good idea!
I have an alternative suggestion to combat the symptoms of tanking and keep games competitive: adopt the league format that is widespread outside North America, in which no high draft picks are granted, but instead, at the end of each season, the weakest teams are relegated to a lower league and the best teams in the lower leagues are promoted.
I like the base idea, idea start it with a scaled order on overall record and adjusted with this. I'd add removing pts from the better team that lost too.
I sent you my own idea for fixing the draft system, and the key to it was a baseline of points. I think that would be key to this model, too.
I refuse to listening to pro-tanking stuff. I am proud of blazers. and if this is what you have to say, not for me.

I think it would make sense for every team to enter into a season with a number of lottery ping pong balls equal to the number of losses from the previous year. For example, if you lost 46 games, you would start with that many balls. A good team with only 23 losses has just half the odds going in. During the regular season, if a team beats a team with a superior record, they get to claim one of the other teams ping pong balls. In this way, both the poorer team and the superior team are incentivized to win. Truly poor teams will probably have a lot of balls entering into the season and also a lot of opportunity to win more balls by beating a favored team. Good teams will want to hang on to theirs so they can improve their odds for a second lottery for draft picks 16-30.
The points system has a huge caveat, there's a simpler solution.
While points would fix tanking, it perpetuates the worst teams at the bottom as they will have a hard time getting good draft picks since they can't get many points no matter how hard they try. A better fix is to simply give a much smaller statistical advantage to low standings, s.t. tanking will more often result in a Pistons-like scenario, and thus tanking would not outweigh the cost of losing disappointed fans' tickets and media coverage.
Tanking last year but not this year grinds my gears. What the hell is this franchise doing.

i like this idea but i think the play-in needs fixing too. top 6 teams in each conference should be locked in and the 8 play-in teams should have a mini tournament to decide the top 4 and they’ll play the 1 and 2 seed from both conferences. this makes it so the east doesn’t have it so easy and a west team or two could sneak into the east playoffs or vice versa
