The Nets have 23 wins on the season, already considerably more than were projected to start the year. It’s left them in the 5th positions (currently) in draft odds, much higher than anyone thought. They seem to have done a calculation on what wins (or culture) mean compared to just outright tanking. And it’s made for an interesting season.

Tanking is important but I think where the nets are is a good spot due to the flattened odds. What’s important is getting the culture established and the GM now hitting on a high end pick
Idk if there is such a thing as "tanking the right way" no matter how you do it you'll be criticized.
Example: Resting players, shadow injures etc. However I do believe at this point in the season. Getting the 5th best odds(lottery) is the best course for the franchise. Jordi Fernandez has already built credibility and culture with this team.
I have no idea what the raptors are doing tho. The development of their young guys isn’t looking good this season

You need TALENT so culture can go to another level 👀…..
I’m sorry, folks, but culture is so overstated and overrated in pro sports it just is. Winning builds culture. End of story and there are so many different ways to win but the key Ingredients are Talent, Coach, Alphas.
Talent-Like Doug says this all the time you need talent to win and specifically you need top 15 in the league type talent. It’s funny how dysfunctional the nets were but you take away injuries when the nets had harden and Kyrie and KD and they probably win a Chip despite all the character concerns.
Alphas-By any measure, Michael Jordan was a terrible teammate. I think he punched two of his teammates in the face. The math were drug infested mess during their heyday in the 80s. What they did have were alphas that kept winning as the top priority no matter what the disfunction was. Alphas that cared about winning over everything else. Nets lack alpha leadership that would hold guys accountable to winning above everything else.
Coach-You need a good coach but more importantly that coach has to have the support of your alphas. Without that ala Atkinson it won’t work.
All the other feel good nice guy stuff has so little impact.
