The Trail Blazers have been a solid basketball team in the second half of the season. Chauncey Billups has done his best coaching work this season, coaxing out high level defense and a play-in chase with the Blazers in fourth season. Has he done enough to earn a contract extension as he heads into the offseason with a team-option hanging over him.

No not all, underperformed with talent year 1, terrible year 2 , terrible year 3. 32 wins year four isn’t enough. Theres no question that we could being this and more with any other coach.
Personally I say no thanks to him coming back as head coach. I like the idea of him being an assistant coach though, even if I doubt he would be down for that. I think he could do well at being the good cop to a more stern hard-nosed coaches bad cop.
It seems like Billups has struggled with vets and succeeded somewhat with developing players. Norman Powell and Robert Covington seemed to have totally bagged their games under Billups while Toumani, Shaedon and Scoot seemed to have responded well. It would be ironic if Chauncey got a job on a vets heavy team like the Clippers.
Your analysis of the Blazers’ post All-Star schedule / opponents seems to indicate these wins are really just Fool’s Gold. This team needs a better coaching staff in place this summer. It’s a good time to part ways with Billups. He might have done enough to earn a new gig next season.
Take Avdiya out of the team, they are in almost last place in the league, the coach is the same coach from years past, we haven't seen the team really improve,antill this year, the difference is Avdiya and Kamara, is that enough for another contract for Billups, not sure
I think it depends on where you think the team should be at this point. It also depends on whther or not we think starting over with a team that is clearly progressing. My opinion is we keep him for another year.
A new deal just because of this season, hell no. Use the team option for next year and then see, why not.
the players play for him , not easy thing to achieve
There is nothing worse then being a losing team with a lot of veteran and older players, just to state the obvious. I like the youth and energy. There is a lot of hope, and unpredictability, for development with players that come to the league so young. On a personal level I would like to play for a coach like Billups. How do the players feel?
This young team would thrive on a fast-paced transition offense and defense, CB doesn’t’ play that way. Put CB on “family leave” for the rest of the season and see what Bjorkgren can do with the pace.
I want to get rid of him just for saying the word “um” every other word…He’s annoying and just started coaching cause his ass is on the line. Mediocre at best…
