The Fastbreak EP. 11: Bulls’ 8-4 March record powering team to play-in, players to awards

K.C. Johnson returns mid-week for his top four storylines surrounding the Chicago Bulls. Following a 4-2 west coast trip and an 8-4 March record so far, the Bulls are using a unique style of play that relies on threes, fast pace and efficient transition scoring. Behind Coby White and Josh Giddey, the Bulls have become a scrappy team in the Eastern Conference.

  1. I would be impressed if they blow out Lakers Thursday night . Again. Because the national media don't mention what bulls have done in March.

  2. There's at least 1, sometimes 2 times a game they score within 4secs of inbounding the ball after opponents made baskets

  3. Whoโ€™s NOT missing Zach? Likr button โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”->

  4. I've been part of a team that won a national university championship (not in USA) using a 9-10 man rotation. The benefits cannot be overstated – the camaraderie is huge, the trust in team mates to commit and play as hard as they can for however as long as they can, the 5% plays of diving on the floor or going all out in D adds up over the course of the game and is a MASSIVE advantage against a team that relies on a shorter rotation that gets tired. There is also a calm confidence that comes from this style of play – you KNOW that you can come back from a deficit: we came back from a 18 point deficit at half-time to win by 15 by just working the legs off the other team! As the starting centre there was a great relief to have confidence in the sub who would come in when you're tired – you could work extra hard, give a foul and know that the coach would trust you to call for a sub when you needed it. The experience changed my perspective on basketball – superstars are exciting for sure and a big dunk gets a cheer – but I love the experience of winning much more.
