To the people who think Nico was some kind of puppet who just did what the owners wanted, you really need to check out a channel called Chip Overseas.
He did a video breaking down Nico's history, his ego, his beliefs, and what exactly led to the decisions.
Make no mistake about it, Nico Harrison was 100% behind the trade, and almost certainly drove it. His ego and his idolisation of Kobe created such a cognitive dissonance in his mind that, crazy as it sounds, he genuinely thought Luka wasn't as great as everyone else views him and that this was a smart move.
The owners knew and definitely signed off on it, but Nico was the driving force. No conspiracy, just a man with an insane ego and an ownership that spent half theur net worth buying the team and are looking to save money.
